Skipping rear wiper?

This has been happening ever since we've had the car. On first sweeps, the blade of the rear wiper skips across the screen, making an unholy noise and not doing much to clear water. It also happens when the screen starts to dry off after a shower and is most annoying.
If you are having a similar problem, never fear - there is a solution! [:)] There is a modification carried out under warranty. It's a 2 hour procedure, but seems to do the trick. We've just had ours done and now it's perfect. [:)]

Clive.

I had the same problem on my "interim" Macan S Diesel which was fixed as you say with a modification under warranty.

Thats interesting to read. When my macan was in for pdk undate last month i said the rear wiper was skipping on the screen and they said it just needed a cleaning,no mention about a warranty update and still does it.
But that doesn't suprise me Porsche Reading have been useless.

There's a modification kit available comprising a spacer and a washer etc. - apparently. [8|]
Speak to Tim at Reading (service) if he's not aware of it, tell him to give Wayne a ring at Exeter (they used to work together)

Clive.

Windscreens tend to collect a lot of traffic film, making it difficult to really get the glass clean and smear-free.

One way I've found to improve this, is to treat the glass to a clay bar application - the type used by detailers to clean coachwork. Accompanied with a liberal amount of a shampoo solution for lubrication then rinsing, will effectively remove this film and provide a clean surface for the wiper blades to do their work.

There's also an interesting mechanical remedy for skipping windscreen wiper blades here too.

I've previously seen toothpaste recommended for the same purpose, again a mild abrasive.

There’s another reason for skipping wiper blades that I have experienced.
Where the blades are parked in their home position for most of the time they tend to cause the blade to permanently form a curve on the edge of the blade which prevents it flipping back on the return wipe. Often this is caused in the summer or warmer months of the year where the rubber is held in the parked position for weeks at a time. I’ve found the only solution after thoroughly cleaning the screen is to replace the blades. If it’s practicable try to keep the blades off the screen when parked.

If you take the rear wiper blade off, and turn it round & re fit it, you will fit it goes away. I have raised this with my OPC & nothing was mentioned about a modification.
