My 911 has developed a missifire on cyliders 4,5 and 6, says the diagnostic check, it's looks as if it started to run really rich, the inside of the exhaust tail pipes are really black, unlike normal, has anybody had this, or any ideas what it might be,

thank you , Rgds
Ian

The diagnostic check should have told you what the issue was!? unless it wasnt done by a Porsche Specialist.
? Your mileage might help
When its all three on the same bank it could be a solenoid if they still have in Gen 2
Have the plugs been changed, splits or cracks in coil plugs

If it's misfiring then it will run rich with all that unburnt fuel. As Gordon says, the diagnostic should point to the reason but my money would be on coil packs.

Ian,

It would have thought it unusual for all three plugs/coil packs to fail simultaneously.

Since it's just one bank, maybe you have a faulty variocam solenoid on that bank. However, assuming you were using PIWIS/Durameteric or similar diagnostics rather than a standard OBD2 diagnostic tool I'd have thought the diagnostic check would have thrown up any error codes.

No CEL or a lambda sensor error code presumably?

Jeff

What about the MAF sensor? No idea how they're configured, but my car ran rich on one side & Porsche assist said it was likely to be the sensor : duly replaced and all was fine...
