Thinking about a European trip in May or early June and looking at the following route:

Calais, Luxembourg, Baden-baden, Brienz (Switzerland), Grimsel pass, Furka pass, Tremola pass, Nuefenen pass, Gotthard pass, Bellagio (Lake Como), Bellagio, Sirmione (Lake Garda), Bormio, Stelvio, Umbrail pass, Santa Maria (Switzerland), Stuttgart, Reims

Any comments or suggestions welcome ......

Have a look here for possible routes/ hotels etc - there are a number flavours

There will be a mailing going out shortly about a register trip in July covering a lot of those locations.

I may see you there Mike. The wife and I are looking to do something similar early June. Folkestone- calais, through Reims into Switzerland to Susten Pass and Furka Pass then over to the Mercedes museum then to the BMW museum, Porsche museum and Porsche factory tour on the way home.

That will be a great trip, have been to all those. The least enjoyable pass will be the Stelvio. Great to look at, not to drive.
If you can, include the Susten Pass as it's spectacular.
You could be at risk of hitting some closed passes due to snow even into June, so you'll need to check road conditions at the time. We always aim for late June/early July (head off on the 4th this year to Austria).
Bellagio is very pretty, but very touristy and not a place for cars if you're intending staying there.
Recommend getting the relavant LEZ stickers for France and Germany and a transponder for the French toll booths. Vignette required for Swiss motorways.
Many people are critical of the Swiss speed limit strictness but you don't need to go mad on the passes to enjoy youself.

Looking forward to it if the dates work out for me. Do you know when it will go out? I noticed they get snapped up quickly.

If you’re wanting to do a Porsche factory tour you will need to keep a constant, watchful eye on the calendar via the official museum website. When I looked in Feb this year to book for our Sept roadtrip, the online calendar only went to end April. Finally late May the rest of the year went online, with nil availability - I thought that there must be a glitch with their systems and emailed, to be informed no, the factory tours prove very popular and fully booked for the rest of 2024. Hugely frustrating as I don’t think I missed the second half of the year calendar being published online by perhaps a week-10 days at most, yet all of a sudden all booked. If they leave it so late to open up the booking calendar in advance, how are you meant to try a date to coincide with your trip which you may have more flexibility with still….
Of course the museum is still open and worth visiting, but the factory tours are great - if you can get on one!
Highly recommend the Merc museum too - dare I say it, even better than the Porsche museum. Me and a friend did a 10 European r/trip Sept 23, and had 2. Ishtar in Stuttgart, did merc museum day 1, Porsche the following. Oh, and did my first Alpine Pass then too - Sustenpasse - leaving me wondering what’s taken me so long! Planning a bigger lads trip 2026 and will spend 3-4 days in the area and do many.
