0-60mph in 1.1 sec??

Have you guys seen the specs for the new Tesla roadster with the space X package fitted? This thing is mad in acceleration and braking, I can't find braking times, only distance, but it stops in have the distance of the latest GT2. So could it be that not only is it twice as quick as the GT2 to 60 but perhaps it could go-stop-go and still get back to 60 before the GT2 had got there at all?
The video of this beast is certainly impressive and the spec out of this world:

standard car Space x
0-60mph 1.9 1.1sec
0-100 4.2 3.31
1/4 mile 8.8 I've not been able to find figures for the other stats yet
top speed + 250 mph
range 620 miles
torque at the wheels 10,000 nm
seats 4
AWD

If you think that's impressive, this car is also planned to literally fly, or should I say 'hover'

It even sounds cool with the compressed air spaceX booster rockets ...:)

Impressive to say the least

You can’t deny that Elon talks a good game, whether he’ll ever deliver though . . .

Well the car exists and has been timed....looking at the other cars in the range they will all blitz most of the fastest cars out there, even their SUV is a rocket ship...???? I do wonder how many drivers out there could cope with the G forces applied. IIRC it's something like 2.5g, twice that of most high performance cars...add the extreme braking power of the space x package and you'll have your eyes popping out of your head ????

but who needs it, with a national speed limit of stupid 70MPH

its just to relieve folks of the hard earned cash for no use whatsoever, the Model X with its doors flapping in party mode WTF!!!!

I'll stick to my 951 and pay Porsche £10 per litre for their new fuel...??????

Leaves me cold - as does most of Dr Evil's (Elon) work - claims to be saving the planet yet is planning on throwing thousands of satellites into space - people get all excited at seeing the chains of wifi satellites - soon you wont be able to not see them!
Builds ugly electric cars in the interests of 'enviro' and then chucks rockets into space or blows them up trying how much c02 do those bad boys produce?

Not content with that he is littering space with his old roadster (just because).

How long before he releases the 'big fricking laser' ?

ps I drove 600 miles today without having to go near a motorway service station - pretty sure most of the tesla superchargers are at motorway stations - why would I want to hang around there for 30 mins or more?

You should be so lucky! Join the queue and wait hours while those in front of you have a meal and forget they are plugged in. We live in a very selfish world and they don’t care if you wait while they stuff themselves with their Big Mac’s.

They need to stop this stupid hunt for massive useless performance, and get the distance sorted

why 0-60 in 1.1, 0-750 miles in one charge is far more important

Couldn't agree more with what Tony said.
Megalomaniacs like Leon Skum are driving the world to collapse.

well, to be fair, none of our cars will do 620 miles on one tank, so I think the 'lack of range' argument is mute now and will continue to be so. IIRC the Tesla truck can cover something like 1200 miles on one charge. I accept that the average 'joe blogs' EV still has too short a range but battery performance will only get better.

PSH, not sure I see your point. EVs will never be anything more than basic mobility devices. Only the cynics or saddest people seem to get satisfied by summing a car by cold figures, which is what EVs are all about, even if the dreadful CO2 footprint left by the production of batteries ever gets fixed, which I doubt.

Hybrids are a much bigger pollution problem

two engines, a set of batteries

and they get a free pass, just goes to show it’s all bulls£&@

I agree, no heart or soul but alas they will soon be the only cars available on the forecourt. Hopefully, the existing IC cars will be around for a while yet, Porsche's vast investment in the new zero emission fuel will help, for how long is anyone's guess. I suspect only the very wealthy will still be driving an IC car in 20, perhaps 30 years time.

or the very poor, the very rich already have or have had electric cars to play with and are converting classics.
I think there will be hybrids and thus fossil fuel for a long while yet, it is just not practical for everyone to charge electric cars even if they get charging down to 10 mins for 300 miles and have charging ports everywhere. Look how long it took to add a terminal to heathrow (5) or an extra runway or to upgrade the A1. infrastructure for everyone to drive electric cars will dwarf those projects.

Pete, my A4 will do 560 miles for a tank full, if you can behave with your right foot
in 2035 you won’t be able to buy hybrid cars anymore, electric only

i agree these electric cars are not such a good idea for our atmosphere as they seem to lead everyone to believe. my brother is a very intelligent electrician and he explained the amount of power used to charge a 10-30min tesla is monumental and these batteries are horrendous for our planet to dispose of , but no one in the government seem to put this question to the front of the cue ( unless i’ve missed it but that is possible becuase i choose not to watch tv or the news )

i have x2 Questions :

•are we gonna be allowed to keep our petrol cars?

•if yes are we still allowed to buy second hand petrol head cars ????

thata what’s always on my mind

these are the unknown questions.. as things heat up further, you can bet your bottom dollar that they will be targeted, not likely in my lifetime though. There's a bigger question to this though and it's something that has been discussed among auto journalists recently. If you drive a petrol car down a road when it's EV only, how far will you get before it's attacked? the world is changing and it's not for the better.
