1/4 mile in Cambridge, Sunday 14th september.

Wednesday night was probably one of the busiest club nights ever, I could not get a seat anywhere.Just throw a bbq every
month, John.[;)]
No Bacon Roll on sunday then.[]
I will probably stop at tesco's in Milton prior to the event, they have got a Costa in there too.

Would be nice - plan to have another BBQ in the new year possible May June with a photo shoot. Sorry could not make it today.
Ive been doing some planning on a Lola event - more to follow at Club night and in Porsche Post. Trying also to get the major Regions
events nailed down for 2009.
Anyway hope those who attended the Waterbeach event enjoyed (you had the best days weather for many a month) it and the cars went well. Was it worth while?
Interested to know since could make a possible R24 event next year.

Its was a very enjoyable day with great weather for it. There were three Porsche's that took part. My own, Nathans 3.2, and a 997 GT3. The GT3 mysteriously disapeared after just a few runs mid morning, which was a shame. Nathan pushed his 3.2 pretty hard on the twisty sprint, certainly a lot harder than I did, and getting 26.8 was pretty impresive considering that most of the lightweight stuff were posting similar times. I tended to stick to the 1/4 mile mostly, getting 12.3 which I was happy with. 11s may have been posible with severe abuse, but that wasnt going to happen.
I have read on javelins website that they do offer car clubs discount. Two or three regions would probably be perfect to guarentee a good turn out by our members, but a porsche only event would be fun. Next spring ok.[;)]

Thanks for the feedback Neil, glad to here you enjoyed the day. I will have a word with the rest of the committee
to see what they think re a Porsche only day - Also would need to speak to other RO's since I don't think any one
Region would be able to enter enough cars to make it a viable event.

The event was good fun and more importantly perfectly safe for both car and driver.

The twisty section consisted of left then right, left then right. It was challenging using the pendulum effect to good effect! On my fastest time my in car video showed it happening once [:D] I'll have a go at uploading it so you all can see. I've been struggling to get the digital video camera connected to my PC via firewire that my friend took of me [:'(]

I'd certainly go to an event that Javelin hold again.
My only criticism would be that at the end of the circuit at approx 75mph it was tricky to know where to go in regards to keeping within the cones. I mentioned this to them hoping they would place a few more cones in between the cones as I had driven through the gaps in the cones without realising until it was too late several times...

All the drivers at the event were friendly too. One chap who drove the BMW M3csl was also a bit crazy though [:D]

I was gutted when I read about this event a day after of happened!! Really hope to make it next year. Nathan, really interested in seeing your video clip...

Those clips are BRILLIANT - i love it when these cars are pushed like that!!!! and i'm even more gutted that i wasn't there now.....

How are the tyres? did you waste an old set or were they due to be replaced any time soon?

Well done for posting nathan, good video's.
I never thought I was that brisk on the twistys.[&:]
It must have been the afternoon session.

Well it certainly looks like you guys had a good time - thanks for the U tube link Nathan.
At our committee night last Wednesday the subject of getting people to be more active with there cars was discussed.
Derek Wheel is very keen to get people try these sort of days out. Neil perhaps you would like to have a chat with Derek
next time you see him and give him the full S.P. And bring Nathan with you!
I have written to the rest of the committee recommending they take a look at Nathans U tube clips.
Its on the Agenda for our next meeting so things are on the move.

I mentioned to Neil to let me know if he goes to a club night as I'd like to come too.

I was going to come to that Wednesday club night you had the BBQ. I was going to come on my own as my wife is not keen but I was too busy fiddling with my Sparco seats.
I drilled another hole in the side mount as low as possible to get the seat lower.
I can't seem to get the front of the seat low enough although I managed on the day OK. I am a little too close to the pedals and too far away from the gearstick for 1st gear. I was worried my hands would be hitting my legs but that didn't seem to happen. I feel as though if I could get the seat lower I would be nearer the gearstick and could move the seat back slightly.
I didn't have this problem with the stock seats and will get them put back in when I get them pampered by Ian.

My rear tyres have loads of tread left although they certainly did lose some. I can't make my mind up about Toyo or Goodyear, then there is also Michelin... I don't think I'm going to go for Pirelli again when I have to choose.
These are my street tyres, my rear tyres are 10 years old as I ran some Mille Miglia 17" 993tt twists - dog legs for several years. I now love the Fuchs, good looks and a fabulous piece of engineering. Not that the real 993tt wheels aren't either, I think they have just not dated well.
I've only done 7K miles in 10 years anyway. You are not supposed to use tyres that are too old, although they show no signs of any drying out or cracking.

I don't recommend anyone does the figure of 8 with their street tyres [:)] but I didn't bring any other wheels.
They're not the easiest of cars to jack up and change wheels anyway.
If you do the figure of 8 with your tyres then have the attitude that they will need to be replaced.

Did Derek Wheel own a mahogany colour 944T ?.

where did it end up

The first time it went to Charles Marsland before Derek bought it back - then when it was sold the second time not sure where it went
I'm sure Derek would tell you though! Was a nice car.

I don't really know Derek, I did consider the car, but the colour was a bit "marmite", and I was looking for a 250 bhp model really.
