10-Speaker guys who've changed head unit ~ help please

I've just been playing with a mates iPod and am pretty impressed. It's certainly better quality than the MP3 files i've been producing (at any compression setting) for my other half's MP3 capable head unit.

I think i'm going to take the money I was going to spend on a new head unit and put it towards an iPod with an FM adaptor so I can use it in my car through my existing head unit.

I will also have the option of copying CD's without compression and should be able to get about 50 uncompressed albums onto a 40Gb iPod which is more than enough for me.

If your head unit has a line-in capability then use that, it's much better. I have both an iTrip and a Belkin ciggy lighter adapter with line-out on it and the iTrip is very much second best, enough that you will lose all the extra quality you have just discovered. Also European iPods are too quiet (something to do with French legislation) to drive the iTrip properly, but there are utilities around on the web to increase that (thankfully; French people must have ears like bats).
