1990 Turbo FOR SALE

HI all. The time has come to part with my 1990 Turbo in black with half leather trim. It has covered 183k miles but has a comprehensive history, Hartec Porsche has looked after this car for several years now, Recent jobs done include Clutch and gearbox rebuild and all belts/tentioners etc. This car has had thousands spent on it. I have owned the car for a little over 3 years now and have done less than 2000 miles in it. Due to rising costs of my house extention and it's lack of use the wife has perswaded me to sell it. It has current tax and test and is in daily use now (I an trying to justify keeping it)
The bad bits- It could really do with a full respray and repair to the bottom of the front wings. It has loads of stone chips on the nose cone and poorly repaired scratches on the wings and doors. Air Con could do with being re gassed.
The good bits- Its a 250bhp bridgespoiler model in black (the best color in my opinion) Extensive history file. Full Stainless Steel Exhaust (Haward & Scott £800 worth) GoodYear F1 tyres, all in good condition. All electrics work as they should. Momo Steering wheel.
Mechanicialy it is perfect, and has had all the common 944 problems sorted,
I am not looking for a fortune for this car as I know it needs a respray to do it justice. I am open to offers.
Any further information, please contact me. I have pics I could email to anyone who is interested.
Car is located in South East Northumberland about 10miles away from Newcastle upon Tyne.
Thanks,
Simon Forrest.

PS- The number plate was removed for the photo, I have a new set of logo ones to be fitted and some cill covers also. I was going to wait till it was resprayed before fitting these.

I like the cup 1's! are they original ones?

The edge of the spokes look too square to be originals [anorak off]

I think they will be Mille Miglia replicas

OFFERS , anyone ???
I really don't want to use Autotrader or eBay to sell this car.

After much thought I am willing to accept £4300 for this car, I looked at several 944 turbos before buying mine and all the guides said how important history and maintenence is on these cars, this car has been well maintained and has had a absolute fortune spent on it. Yes it could do with a respray and a little TLC but the mechanics are 'spot on' All the expensive bits have been done-Clutch, Belts, Gearbox re-build ETC.
This must be a bargain for someone !

I have been obtaining quotes for a respray, even after spraying this car it will still be a cheap late 944 turbo. Anyone interested in buying it, please contact me. In the meantime I will continue to try and convince the wife that I don't really need to sell it !

Perhaps. You might have had a bit more interest if you had played a more active part in this forum previously rather than just joining to sell your car. As it is you and your car are pretty much unknown on the forum and, as such, wouldn't get any greater attention from a buyer than an add in 911&PW etc.

£4K for a late 250 with Haywood and Scott, (one assumes) medium blacks and a new MOT isn't a bad price and I wish you well with your sale. Alternatively, you could re mortgage based on the value of the extended property and keep the car. [;)]

the price is very good but you have picked the absolute worse time of year to sell ? why ?
Unless you are desperate for the money I would keep it till the spring and you'll get probably £5000 for it . If you must sell you'll probably get £3950 on ebay but you'll need some valium and a strong sense of humour . No point trying to sell it here as a) its an unknown car and b) most folk here have got thecar of their dreams already.

Simon, I must agree with my fellow 944ers, having recently offered my Silver Rose for sale at £4K without success. In fact I think it may be somewhat worse based on Adrian Martin-Pitt's Silver Rose barely raising enough interest to get bidding above the £3K level on e-bay just this week (it didn't reach reserve).

Good luck with the sale though.

Thanks for all the advice. The truth is, I love the car but I only get to use it on rare occasions, I only do about 2000 miles a year in it. I have two teenage children and whilst the rear seats 'were' ideal but the kids have grown somewhat and no longer fit !
I was a user of this forum some years ago but due to a computer failure, I lost all my membership details etc, so I just re-registered.
I previously owned a 944 lux that some of you may remember was featured in 911 & porsche world- Sound Machine article, so I do have about 7 years experiance of 944 ownership, but I am unable to give my car the attention and use that would justify keeping it.
Space in the garage is also a issue, as I am currently restoring a Astra GTE Champion (my wifes) and the garage only holds two cars.
I am not in a hurry to sell the car, as I don't really want to part with it but time and space are the main reasons it's for sale.

Just out of curiosity, what's the rust like in it? Is it possible to get a half decent UK car without a lot of salt/rust damage?

yes - I had a look inside my sills a couple of months ago & they looked like new. I sprayed some wax in there just to be on the safe side. One of the wings is going a bit right at the bottom but that's it as far as rust goes.

Singapore, Malaysia, India - just about those places that were coloured red on a Victorian world map. Also Japan. Can't imagine there would be too many 944's in those countries though.
