1st gear a bit stiff?

Collected car and now more aware of the Sport Shift. Happened to me on the way home and tried what you said about second first and then putting into first, no problem. This thread was probably a waste of time, but at least I now know no issues with the gearbox!!
While I was at East London, saw the new Turbo!!! WHAT A MACHINE!! But the one I liked the best was the new C4S because of the back full reflector. Looks really the bollocks!!

Is that what you do!! Collecting car later on and will try that!!

It occurs mostly when coming to a rolling stop, say at the traffic lights when I try and engage 1st sometimes it just doesn't want to know I've found that selecting 2nd then pushing into 1st works. But I have a bad habit of putting the car in neutral and coasting the last few metres so that might be the problem rather than the gearbox's as it happened in my m3 as well.

Most manual cars I have driven 1st is almost impossible to engage until you are at a complete stop. I can sometimes get 1st in gear when coming to a stop at about 2-5mph but you have to keep pushing the gear lever forward until you slow enough for it to go in.

Sorry Alex, I'm stationary when I have problems putting it into 1st gear it goes into 1st gear quite happily when moving. When I said "rolling stop" I meant I put the car into neutral then roll the last few yards to a stop it's at that point I have the engagement issue....

circleace, not at all..
You're not the first to of asked the question or had the concern, these threads help others to find an answer for their searches.

Thats one thing about the register meetings, people ask these questions and someone will tell AND show them that theirs is exactly the same..

Not a waste of time you now know what to do when you can't engage 1st! [:D]

And yes the C4s does look good...I rather wish I had bought one myself although I have to say having driven Paul Funnels Targa 4S the 4 wheel drive versions are no where near as lively at the helm as the C2S [;)]
