2.5 Boxster really worth it?

Well Sheffield and Leeds both have OPC's but I don't know about none franchised Porsche dealers although there are shops that do work in North Notts/South Yorks area but if you can't find one now then you could do some research on dealerships. I usually check on things when I'm not in a position to buy, stops me getting carried away.

It's either that or maybe a cheap MX5"

Oh wow, fucking incredible.

Values of 986's even the early S are now so low that few will pay to maintain at main dealers prices, the cost of a replacement engine is about double the value of the vehicle and so even if an engine blows up it's only cost effective to replace with a 2nd hand lump.

Earlier Porsches suffered in the same way and then as with all a few years after they bottom out they gain value, if you buy a really good one it may hardly be able to fetch a good price in a few months or it may fetch good money years down the line when it becomes rare, of course with any Porsche there is a greater possibility of it lasting to do this than many other makes.

Phantom your saying that your getting a 2.5 Boxster to get your foot off the ladder? if your crying like a girl over running costs you aint going any higher then, or as you say "foot off the ladder" thats such a fucking insult to people with a 2.5 Boxster which in my view is a stunning machine but its such a shame this fell so much in price to give people like you a chance to get your arse in one.

"its either that of a cheap MX5" By any chance were you the guy who went into the Porsche dealer at Reading and told the salesman that the new 911 looks like a cool curvy 3 series?

just wondering.

also some places not so nice in Manchester.

Hell yea I can agree here, I came through Manchester at 2.00am on the way back from Wales in my 911 and my mate was in his and there were people lying in the middle of road, or loading semi automatic weapons, lol this is no word of lie, I belted through there fast!

avoid that if possible just those roads are so damn good!

You woken up on the wrong side of the bed c2s?

You need to end your train of thought right now my friend, i have nothing against any Porsche let alone a 2.5 boxster, i have no problem with running costs in fact i can go out and get a 986, 987, Cayman or whatever if i traded in my CRV but i don't want to do that at this time.

It's a foot on the ladder not off it...

Really odd post.

A little bit beneath what we expect from C2S. Get your foot on the ladder, get hooked, life is not a dress rehearsal. Blow it now before it's to late, don't end up saying "I wish.....". I wind the windows down whenever I see another Porsche- yes, we all like the F1 safety car, but which would you choose? Drive them both, the Boxter is just so far ahead you will accept higher costs. Go for it before global issues dumb all petrol heads to the recycle bin!... please.

Phantom, ignoring the sniping you have received.

For reasons of your work you want to stick with the CRV, not a vehicle I'd want to drive but I can appreciate your reasons, you want a Porsche for weekend fun and we all need to get some of that from time to time.

I'd say that an early Boxster 986 will suit you well whether it be a 2.5, 2.7 or if you're lucky a 3.2 obviously you will not find such a thing at an OPC, a pity as I was in the Sheffield OPC today and they had several 987's starting in the upper £20K price range.

But there are several dealers who specialise in earlier Porsches and they are the people you need to approach or take a chance on a private buy, the thing is that to keep maintenance costs down a certain amount of cannibalism of parts from damaged cars needs to be practiced but there are people dealing in them so not too much of a problem. Either get in or wish you had later.
