A first post on this years Britcar 24hr event, which is running in 2010 after it had a break in 2009. The 24hr race starts at about 4pm on the Saturday with a filed of 70 cars. Before that there are about 10 races on Friday and Saturday including 3 races for this years PCGB Club Championship.

1) This would make a good 968 meet up, as it is such a central location and there will be plenty of 968/944's racing. Some who came last time made a weekend of it and camped. The atmosphere is something special and you get the buzz of something like Le Mans, at much less cost with full access to the paddock and garages to see what is going on.

2) As a competitor I am able to get cheap entrance tickets with infield parking , and sell them direct to you. See my next post on this thread for info

3) I am pulling together a team to run the 24hr race in a BMW 130i, we are aiming for a win in Class 4. I am just struggling a bit to find the final driver - NOW SORTED AS OF 6th SEPT

4) Finally, I would like to try and raise some cash for a charity during the build up to the event. With all that is going on in Pakistan, my chosen charity will be REDR or 'Register of Engineers for Disaster Relief'. This charity trains and provides all the water, sanitation and highways engineers that are seconded to the bigger charities to undertake projects in places like Haiti and now Pakistan. See this link for more info & start loosening the grip on your wallets!!! http://www.redr.org.uk/en/

Will definitely be there, but keep an eye on what PCGB themselves are arranging - if arranging...

I might show up for the sat or sun only - going on holiday the following week so might be short of funds

THE BRITCAR TICKET OFFER 2010 As a competitor I can buy batches of 50 weekend tickets at £5 + VAT each -- for every 2 tickets there is also an FOC parking permit that allows you to park in the infield not far from the paddock. Children under 15 years old get in free. NB For the general public the normal price for one weekend ticket is £35 plus an outfield parking permit at £6. If you want any of these heavily discounted tickets through me, I will sell them at £6 each including parking permit(s) and packing/postage back to you. Please e-mail me on here with the number of tickets you need (minimum 2) and one parking permit will be added per pair of tickets ordered. I will send you my address and pls then send your cheque to reach me by 24th Sept at the latest. FINALLY, our team is trying to raise some cash for a disaster relief charity that sends engineers to stricken places around the world -- if you would like to include a 2nd cheque made out to REDR UK - that would be great, see more info here: http://www.redr.org.uk/en/ . We expect to drive about 1750 miles in the B24 and hope to raise at least £1750 for the charity. Please help if you are able.

Hi Paul sent my e-mail address I may need 4 tickets and 2 car passes if you can send address to send cheque , We are wentered as well in 993 RSR. Peter

I have created a 'justgiving' page for the fund raising I am doing on this Britcar 24hr race. Hoping to raise at least £3500 which will be a £2 for every mile we plan to drive (target increased 19th Sept). http://www.justgiving.com/Paul-Follett-2010-charity more info and links there so even if you don't want any tickets -- how about digging deep and supporting this charity, even the smallest donation will be gratefully received.

Bump to the top. It is amazing, the fundraising has reached £600 already -- anyone out there needing to loosen the grip on your wallet ????? Donate now at : http://www.justgiving.com/Paul-Follett-2010-charity Also the deadline for very cheap entrance tickets from me is approaching -- you need to PM me and then send a cheque by 24th Sept. Paul

More help needed for disaster relief. Donations needed urgently as the target is raised to £3500 http://www.justgiving.com/Paul-Follett-2010-charity

Not wanting to put a dampner on things, but i hope youve got some wets on order , as looking at the forcast, you might need them, on Sat night..... I hope not though...

Dave-hi. one sets of new wets ready for duty !! with plenty more in Mr Dunlops trucks. ideally we would like to have 2 or 3 sets of slicks scrubbed in but that might be a serious waste of money if wet. at over £850 a set - tyre management is actually a very big factor in the budget! ps testing was not fantastic today, a lot of niggly handling issues which were not resolved --- So, plan B came into action as I had prov booked Chris Franklin to do a night set up at his workshops. As I write the car is in Atherstone with him! -- geo probably finished about midnight then back to Silverstone for quali tomorrow morning! Me I am off to bed !
