2019 R3 NC500 (12-16 September)

I’m spending a long weekend 16th-19th of November this year on the West Coast and Western Isles With some petrol head friends.

Starting on the morning of Saturday 17th at Loch Lomond and finishing the afternoon of Monday 19th at Glasgow. Heading up to Loch Lomond on the afternoon of Friday 16th and will be back home for tea time on the Monday. Probably up to 1000 miles all in.

It’s not an R3 or PCGB event - just something a group of us do every year or so. Follows a “treasure hunt” style format with points for photos in the right places and being at the right place at the right time.

Certainly not Porsche-specific, a few guys fly in from London and rent Abarth 500s or S3s from Hertz. If anyone wants more info or is interested in coming then message me direct rather than further derailing Philip’s thread 👍

*edit - Philip, one “L”

Sounds great and is definitely a trip on our to do list. It will be all the better to travel with like minded, and Porsche powered, souls! Please count us in.

Just back from our annual trip on the motorbike and started to book hotels for next year - currently very difficult to find accommodation around Thurso for the night of 9th September 2019, not sure if there is a major project at Dunreay with contractors block booking.

For this year I booked Ullapool in January but spoke to others who had tried to book in April but we’re advised there selected hotels were fully booked.

Moral of story - due to the popularity accommodation needs to be booked early

Having just returned from an awesome 1323 mile epic Scottish trip door to door, I would like to thank Philp & Jacquie for the obvious amount of preparation and hard work they put in to ensure everyone else could just participate and have a great time, Deb & I included.

Our Scotland and NC500 2019 tour certainly didn’t disappoint, great food, fantastic people and of course some stunning scenery, that changed with every twist and turn. Even the 130 mile detour on the one day it rained, due to an unforeseen road closure, couldn’t dampen our spirits. I personally felt it gave me the perfect opportunity to continue to enjoy driving still more fabulous roads than even an extremely well-prepared Philip hadn’t envisaged us using; A route that despite adding hours to our day was still dramatic, passing the stunning, famous Eilean Donan Castle in the dark.

Thanks again Philip and Jacquie and everyone else who contributed to make this trip the memorable fun fuelled tour it will be remembered for. I hope everyone arrived home safely after the many miles we explored together and I hope Hamish the Haggis is enjoying his new home with Alastair.
