2020 BTCC Media and Test Day - Tuesday Tuesday 17th March 2020

Hi All,

just had an email from The Silverstone Racing Club to say the event is now closed to the public.

see you in June!

Cheers

Gary

Hi,

Do you mean the event will now take place behind closed doors?

Or as the web site says "This event is now full" i.e. no more free tickets available?

Steve

Hi Steve.

We work very closely with Silverstone as a Company, and during a telephone conversation this afternoon with a Senior Manager, I was informed it may not be possible to spectate tomorrow at the BTCC Test, due to the Coronavirus.A decision was going to be made at a meeting later in the afternoon. I was going not only for business, but also to spectate, and I may well still pop over. I’m going to take a chance to view, but on the chance that if I can’t, then I’ll turn it into a business visit.

On a lighter note , my wife and I are R10 members, and have been for 4 years but shamefully, never been to Sharnbrook Meets, or what look like very exciting DOTM’s We know Paul quite well and bump into him from time to time. Maybe when the weather breaks, and the next Drive Out, who knows.

Phil

Hi

Just had e-mail from Silverstone timed at 19:30.

"Following the Government’s Coronavirus latest advice, BTCC Series Organiser, TOCA, and Silverstone have taken the decision to cancel public attendance at the BTCC Season Launch taking place at the circuit tomorrow, March 17. BTCC and Silverstone are committed to assisting in any way to support the Government’s action plan, with the health and safety of our visitors and teams as our priority."

Testing behind closed doors now.

On the meet front, I purchased my very first Porsche last November and joined the PCGB. I have attended 3 of the Sharnbrook meets now and find them a treasuretrove of information coming from the many Porsche owners. Lots of recommendations on fixes to my windows, clutch weight and many other aspects of Porsche Boxter ownership.

You must come over. I'm Towcester based so a 40 min drive to Sharnbrook through the beautiful villages from Northampton.

Regards, Steve

Hi Steve.

Well I’m glad youve had it officially, perhaps, directly from Silverstone Racing Club. Shame really as its generally quite exciting. I live in Pattishall, which is 2 miles North of Towcester, so maybe I could meet up before the next meet,

Regards.

Phil

On a side note there's a few members who live near and around MK or Buckingham or Aylesbury so maybe a mini convoy over to the next R10 meet.

Hi guys hope you all got the note from Silverstone that public attendance for tomorrows test day has been cancelled
