22" Alloys Invalidate Warranty

I would think twice before buying aftermarket wheels, Posche Kendal wont look at these issues (all which occured occured with OEM wheels on) because I have 22" inch wheels.

"¢ Mirror intermittently sticks in reverse position (and will not reset)
"¢ Intermittent clicking sound coming from drivers headrest when lights are turned on (computer screen flickersdips no other instruments dip)
"¢ CD players spins up really load when ignition turned on
"¢ ABS Warning. (no air bag warning lights)
"¢ Warning and Low GearDiff lights Flash Red.
"¢ Hesitation "" Squirt accelerator nothing happens after lag car comes to life. (this still happens when engine is up to temperature)
"¢ Hesitation "" Tip gear change lag changing up.
"¢ Breaks are squeaking and squealing at slow speeds and light braking.
"¢ Breaks don't feel as progressive as they did, excessive wear?
"¢ Door Handles stick in open position.
"¢ Clock gains time and I have to continually reset.
"¢ Temperature control is too sensitive, either too hot or too cold.
"¢ Stereo loses settings.
"¢ Gear changes terrible on cold starts, does not change gear quick enough, Revs into red unless I manually change gear. Car stammers and is very clunky with shifts until warm.
"¢ Auto windscreen wipers do not always sense rain quickly enough.
"¢ Squeaking noise coming from B pillar, driver side.
"¢ Boot hatch window opens itself.
"¢ Boot does not always shut and get warning symbol to show it not closed.
"¢ Stereo does not always work, it powers up and a high pitch sound comes out of speakers.
"¢ Extremely unhappy with the creases in the leather seats, looks like car has done many miles. Have checked with other owners and there seats do not look like mine and they have much higher mileage.

Not sure what the correlation between wheels and these faults are?? Going to have to put original wheels back on!

Illegal, unless porsche can prove a link between the 22" wheels and the faults you have had.
Looks like Porsche trying to wriggle out of legitimate claims, sort of thing you might expect from a trader under the arches rather than a prestige car dealer. Lets hope with a recession coming then they might get a bit better about customer service....

Increased vibration caused by the harder ride?
the cayenne is an off roader for goodness sake.... it should be able to take a little bit of vibration....

so all of those Cayenne's I see in Central / East London with bigger alloys all must be in the same position... which is prob' not the case...[]

terribble CS from your dealer... you should get a view from HQ, they are prob' saying that to avoid fixing your car's problems []

I don't think they can do this but you could always buy some 18" Turbo alloys off Ebay for 350-400, put them on, drive to Porsche Wilmslow or Liverpool, get the jobs done and then sell the wheels again on ebay for slightly less.

Starting a conversation with your Dealer Principle with "my lawyer has advised me that in accordance with the sale of goods act...." and then finishing it with "... and I really look forward to you helping me sort these issues out because I don't have the inclination to go to Porsche Cars Great Britain, Watchdog, Top Gear, Autocar....." will get you somewhere I'm sure.

Disgraceful service.

If Porsche continue with this attitude to customer service they will find themselves going the same way as MG Rover.
Personally I would take those 22" alloys and put them where they hurt the dealer principle most!

Not sure that I agree.

Whilst their approach might not do much for customer relations and, in any event, Porsche should really provide a 3-year warranty, in a dispute I think Porsche would have a valid case.

On a complex 4x4, they could justifiably argue that fitting unapproved sized wheels and tyres to the final drive, especially something as extreme as 22" wheels, could compromise the steering, suspension, braking, gearing and the electronic systems (ABS, PSM, etc) that rely on specific calibrations and characteristics.

I wouldn't risk it.

if its any consolation I had most of these problems and more with my cayenne and I have 18" wheels.....
My personal feelings, based on the dreadful reliability of my car is that its a VW with a badge on the front and not a proper porsche...
Porsche UK and my dealer (after numerous phone calls letters and meetings) have finally come through with a reasonable offer of compensation so my faith in the company is a little better than it was...
lets hope the electronics on my 997 (when it arrives) are slightly better than my KN though!..

I too had most of the issues that you raised, but the most annoying one was the one Porsche eventually admitted they could not fix - the wing mirror sticking in the down position when moving out of reverse into drive. off the road for over 3 months....

long story cut short - got a discount off a new one which is arriving next month. Gave me rubbish PX value for the old one.

I forgot to mention that you can buy a Cayenne from Porsche Zentrum Koblenz with these wheels fitted, It was the porsche engineer in Germany that pointed out they were the same.

(except they have porsche badges instead of Gemballa same wheels made by XT)

The wheels are the same diametercircumference just have less tyre so calibrations will be the same

Spoke to Porsche UK and they said that all faults that arent wheel related will be looked at, would seem the Service manager at Kendal arbitrarily decided to look at nothing whilst car was on 22's

Still think I am going to have to swap the wheels over as my wipers have stopped working and airbag light keeps coming on and cant be arsed arguing with OPC..
