28 August.Donnington. GP gathering...

Well chaps , i suppose its report time.... Donnigton Park,,, hey.???? THE VERY last time we could use this circuit.. + It was a good one.... First off, we managed to "bag" a garage.. That was good as the days forecast was for showers, heavy at times.... None of us had used the GP circuit before so we had a bit of learning to do, but ide say the only difficult corner was Goddards, ie the final corner before the pit straight...Never could quite get it right all day...[8|] So after the usual changing of tyres + setting up it was on to the lappery...[:D] BUT Just as we got onto track we had one of many heavy showers..[][8|] This didnt "dampen" our spirits , in fact it made the track just a bit more interesting than ususal, as the wet sessions became an impromptue drift session at the Melbourne hairpin...[:D][:D][:D][:D]. Lots of sideways action, hey Mike...???? But as usual when rain falls, there were those that couldnt handle it + there was some stoppages....A few quite serious - bent cars.... It wasnt wet all day though. As there was a strong wind blowing which dried the track realy quickly. So we had a wet - dry - wet - dry - wet day.... Usually the track days with the "intrepid twosome" can become a "chase day" but unfortunately not today, as i found myself lapping all on my lonesome for most of the day... The track manners of most of the other cars was great, if a bit too good, as its sometimes good to have a "dice" with one or two of them.. But they all moved over, + it became a bit "boring" for want of a better word... So theres not realy much to report about, in the way of "happenings"... Although i did end up in the gravel trap on the exit of Coppice, on the VERY final lap. I had got a bit to over confident with the drifting + tried to drift the car all round Coppice, It started great, nice + balanced, but the the car / track bit back, + it ended in the gravel, although luckily i manage to drive out without any damage or stopping the session, thankfully........[8|][:)][8|][:)][8|][:)] There were a few spectators that came along for a mini meet, Mike Pollock, Paz, "Small Paul",+ Dave Hooper. Good to meet up again chaps... Mike + Paz, thanks for the pics + video that you took, GREAT...[:D] Dave, good to get together with you + your good lady afterwards..[:D] This might be the last day / report, for me for the next few months, as i am going to be "entrenching" myself into my garage build... Yes its finally going to get built... But im hoping to do a couple more days at the end of the year,, hopefully Oulton Park...
