2nd Hand PSE - For Sale

I think if we were all that worried about money, we wouldn't be driving 996's or fitting PSE's...:)

I have (had) the PSE and found it great on most occasions - the annoying auto feature between 30-45mph can be disabled via a the removal of contact on the relay - it was my intention to do so once the car was out of warranty - however events overtook me - I did a few motorway runs in "loud mode" and found it useful on longer trips to turn off every now and again to take calls etc or speak to my passenger - IMHO having the switch is a useful option if you're going to use the car everyday and sometimes wish not to draw too much attention - Once PGB decide to give me my money back for my charred C4 I'll be first in the queue for a PSE equipped 997Cs.

Hi Dave

The suspense is killing me now, the car should arrive back at lunch time with the PSE, there was a delay and I have waited an extra day...:-(

I have had the 30-45 auto feature disabled as my initial thought was the fact that I had the switch so I could turn off manually anyhow...

PGB and a charred C4? That sounds interesting? What happened there?

Sorry been away for a few days - there is a thread entitled "now its caught fire" which tells the tale - in summary my car left for two days suddenly caught fire - suspected cause was water getting into the fuse box as it had been into the OPC suffering electrical problems a few days before - the debate continues as to whether its an OPC liability issue or a warranty claim against PGB? Until that time PGB have loaned me an 04 C2 without PSE.
Hope your PSE is sounding good!
Dave

As I remember, there was a two-stroke-esque surge of oomph when the valve opened, but this was because the system was, in effect, restricted by the valve, but probably improved torque at low rpm (a bit like the Helmholtz resonator used on the induction side of some Porsches). There was much talk at the time about the timing of the opening and closing of said valve corresponding to the the points where noise outputs were measured for type approval, TUV etc., not necessarily optimum points in the torque curve, so there you are. I believe the automatic switching function on the PSE exists for similar reasons, and that is where I was coming from.
No doubt, I will be shot down in flames any second, for my kitchen sink engineering prowess! I guess, being in a higher state of tune, this was more evident on the EXUP, but the effect on a Porsche should be similar - I do not understand why rotating the baffles out of the way to improve the sound has no effect on performance! I am right in saying that, despite the moniker 'Porsche Sports Exhaust', there is no published, perceived or actual improvement in performance? That could, of course, be down to electronics (an area I am considerably more comfortable in than fluid dynamics, by the way).

My wife always slaps me when I don't switch the exaust off when leaving for a porsche doo at 7am on a sunday. I personally think that everybody should be awake...
