For a real weight saving you need to put in a shell type race seat a la 964 RS. My Recaro Pole Positions have just arrived from Recaro and I will be posting on how to mount them in the not too distant future (actually most likely a month away given my schedule for the next few weeks). These are very light, say 6kg each, whereas the standard seats are more like 25-30kg.

I might be interested in buying them, assuming of course you want to sell them in the first place!
I would have been very interested in buying a couple of p.pos myself and had I known of a deal could have split the freight costs.
BUT they screwed up.
I had a similar situation with an eprom from Autothority and it took a lorra lorra hassle to resolve because they had my money and I had a useless unfitable eprom, hope your situation is better.
This does raise the question of grouping together for a purchase through the club as I bet 5 pairs of Recarros are a damn site cheaper to buy than one.

Correct assumption, it is only the mounts that are coming from the USA. I bought the seats from Motorsport World. All in, including shipping, they came to just over GBP600 for the pair which is a lot cheaper than Demon Tweeks or similar. MSW don' t actually carry any stock so mine were shipped from Recaro direct. It might be possible to buy direct, I don' t know.
The mounting is the real hassle though. I ordered sidemounts from Brey Krause after many emails and a couple of tele calls. The aim was to use the OE sliders and buy a side mount that bolted directly to those. The reason being that the inner seat belt mount is bolted to the OE slider. So, if you lose the OE slider, you lose your seat belt mount and have to find a solution to that problem.
So, last weekend, I pulled out the passenger seat and pulled off the sliders, only to find that the promised side mounts had not a hope in hell of fitting. So the seat was reassembled and reinstalled.
After further discussion with BK it seems that they gave me bad advice and sent the wrong bits. The only way to do this install is to use replacement sliders (Recaro or Sparco) and a different side mount. My old side mounts are winging back to the USA and new ones are on their way to Blighty - all at BKs cost. This still leaves me with the problem of how to mount the inner seat belt mount...
Why did I buy from BK? Because they know what they are doing (usually) and they are the only people in the world (it seems) who can sell you a bolt in solution - which is important if you ever want to put the original seats back in. BK have, for example, a seat from a 3.2 in the warehouse, so when I called them on Tuesday and then emailed digi photos, they went out to the warehouse and checked on their seat and called me back. They provide great service (even if this time they gave bad advice). Plenty of mechanics can install the seats but everyone I spoke to said it was a bespoke job and quoted a whole days labour for the install - plus you still have to buy the sidemounts and sliders etc from someone. Autofarm said they would cut out the old rails and weld in a new subframe! JAZ said they would basically make it up once they saw the seats.
I have installed race seats before (in NZ) and it shouldn' t be this hard...
I will post pics when I have the new sidemounts etc and find the time to do the install.

I agree, fitting replacement seats really should not be this difficult - but it is as you say!
I have ended up with a pair of Corbeau seats (GTB' s) as I still wanted access to the rear and didn' t want a seat with " shoulder wings" . (I did find a pair of manual porsche sports seats but still very heavy) Corbeau have a mounting frame specifically for a 911 and have ordered them, but I will have the same problem with the inner seatbelt mount. Under the carpet just back from the handbrake are a couple of pre drilled holes in the tunnel which I intend to use with a suitable backing plate. I am assuming they where orginially for this purpose prior to the mounts being on the slider.

Good point, I had been trying to remember how the seat belts are mounted on the older cars. I would guess that these holes are already strengthened - but obviously would need to check.
Recaro and Sparco also have subframes, but this has two disadvantages. First, extra weight of hefty steel subframe, negating some of the advantage of the light seat. Secondly, subframe can end up making the seat too high - only a problem if you are tall or want to sit low down. I like too sit low down.
I am currently stalled waiting for Recaro to confirm part numbers on runners.
