3 improvements on a wish list

I am interested to hear what 3 main improvements that you would wish/aim to do to your 944 in the future.
Here are mine for my 86 Lux:[8D]

1.Replace my half leather scripted seats for full cream leather.
2.Fit a front lower bumper spoiler/splitter trim.(if I can find one)
3.Replace rear spoiler for the hoop type.
I would have had cup 3 alloys on my list but have been told they wont fit my year.[&o]

Whether the wheels will fit will depends on whether it is a 1986 or a 1987 model year car (both manufactured in 1986). If your VIN reads: WPOzzz94zG then its an '86 and youll need 30mm spacers. If it reads:WPOzzz94zH then its a 1987 model year car and theyll bolt straight on. You can use the long studs and spacers from the rear of a series one 944 on the front, so youll only need to buy spacers for the rear, but you may already have spacers (if it is an 86 car), looking at the wheels in your picture.

If you already have creamy seats then theyre Grey-Beige (as will be the dash and centre console if its a black split), so later Linen wont really match, although you can usually carry it off if theyre clean and smart.

A VAG Cupra splitter fits 951 PUs and it may fit yours: Ive also seen a pair of Vectra parts used to good effect.

Great thread

1. A turbo [;)]
2. New alloys (not sure which cos I haven't looked as I can't afford them !!) currently nasty Boxster look-a-likes
3. Cream leather door cards to match my seats - now beautifully re-coloured

Perhaps I should share this list with Mrs D given the time of year....

I have a set of smart Grey-Beige leather seats, but my car should have Linen, so Im going to fit a set of perfect black all fabric Porsche script seats in place of the (also perfect) 1/2 velour pinstripes.

Id like to get the big dent out if the back panel.

Thats pretty much it, because its an every day car. I may fit a small touchscreen PC which I have for satnav (TomTom in PPC emulation), MP3s and Centrafuse. Everything else I will do to my stripped out car, but thats a far longer list... [:D]

Decent set of alloys to replace my 'nasty' Teledials

Nice stainless sports exhaust with lovely exhaust note but not chavvy loud

Either : Some professional airbrush detailing to the bodywork or
a scandanavian petrol head babe for the passenger seat , I just cant decide between the last two , maybe the wife will 'advise' me [8D]

Cheers Mas

1. New gear linkage
2. Promax ECU chip
3. 968 castor mounts

How about also adding what you would recommend as the top 3 mods/changes made so far? Would give an idea of what is worth doing.

Mine would be -

1. New tyres - so much more grip over the aging and balding ones
2. Refurbished calipers and braided brake lines
3. New hatch pins - no more knocking sound!

Ouch! I still think they are second only to cookie-cutters as the best wheel for a 944. Forget later models with 16" wheels, and the subsequent way the world has changed to the extent that a Clio now needs 20" rims to look proper. It's like saying that Marilyn Monroe looks dated because she's wearing a dress designed in the '50s, rather than appreciating her for what she was. The 944 is a design from the late '70s and as such looks better on wheels from the period. JMHO, any other opinions will be deleted. [:D][:D]

Three things?

1 - Exhaust. Sorted at Porscheshop thanks to one of their offers.

2 - How do you stop cats playing "scrabble" with their claws on the bonnet? Answers need to bear in mind that SWMBO and the neighbours like cats, but my paintwork is taking a bashing. []

3 - Drive the thing more?

CATS.......................GRRR ! you can borrow one of my German Pointers for a few days that will sort the flippers out [;)]

220 Turbo
1. Wheels refurb (Wide Dish Teledials and Cup Reps) this starts Friday when the teledials are being done followed by the cups.
2. Vibration at 60 to be sorted (Ongoing)
3.Minor paint to make minty.

Turbo S
1.Fit Tial wastgate and reconfigure chips.
2.Fit new vacumn hose kit.
3.Find a 968 CS (Rear seat delete)rear shelf at a reasonable price then fit.

Looks like the kids are only getting a chocolate orange for xmas again [:D]

Mastiff,
Off course ! i will also be claimiing a slice [:D]

awattam..............Hartech are selling 968 castor mounts along with Porsch a Part, not OEM but good bits of kit and cheaper.

None of the above will sell crap [8|]

Sadly, my two Hungarian Vizslas spend all day watching from the window whilst the cats treat my bonnet as a Centreparcs Flume.....[]

Cant cope with the sight of teles, never have, cookies or D90s for me!
Got a Rough Collie who loves cats - just got two moved in next door she's practicing on!
Very reasonable rates.

1. get some toyos to replace the mismatched unbrands on the rear
2. take the rear lights out, sigh at the surface rust starting behind them and ponder wether to delay things get the abrasives out or get it seen to 'profesionally'.
3. replace bodyshell with titanium/carbon fibre
last one might be overdoing it slightly.

used to have cats on the bonnet of the red beemer but theyve left the porsche alone so far thank god, now they just shit in the flower beds

Well lets see...

1. Get a Vitesse MAF fitted
2. A front end respray to clear those bloomin stone chips (actually its either a MAF or the respray am trying to decide which one to do and which one will have to wait)
3. Um actually I think thats about it right now. Guess "cure the intermittent hatch squeak" is the only other thing at the moment.

"Cococola" - the Cup 3's on Ravs car are Milie Miglia (sp?) replicas with the early non-abs offset which may fit your car ? If he ever finds the set of 16" teledials he is after they might be worth pursuing. I put them on DHX when I owned her.

1. Obtain some wider or correct D90's for the front, rather than 6j.

2. Finish/fit 968 engine.

3. Sort out sills properley or reshell into a series one or 924.

For me it would be the following:

968 Castor Mounts
KW Varient 3 Suspension (People, please talk me out of this (although it won't be a year if I decided to spunk that much cash on the car))
16" Club Sport wheels with decent tread.

At the moment I have the Linen Leather, 968 Mirrors and Carrera 2 17" wheels on Pirelli PShite000s (wet weather is interesting with them).

Whilst I agree people should use their 944s I would like to use mine less! I'm doing between 1000-1500 miles a month in mine at the moment! Hard on the car I know but it does the job sooo well!

Hmmmm. Difficult one. Improvements to be made would probably be:

1. Fit a chip. Some people say this is well worth doing. I'd like to try it.
2. Fit a better stereo, preferably with a DAB radio. The current (JVC) one is OK, but not great.
3. Find the chance to drive it more! My last client has dispensed with my services so it is not being caned 40-odd miles every day, and I miss those miles!

Best to date are:

1. Fitting 968 Castor Mounts. Worth every penny, they really stiffened up the feel of the car as well as the communication of the steering.
2. Full geo alignment. IMHO, while I am sure that KWv3 suspension is a great thing, a lot of the perceived benefit that people experience when fitting it comes from the full geo that is done at the same time. I had mine done after I fitted Koni dampers and the on-road feel, grip, communication and symetricality (same responses to the left as to the right) were all massively improved.
3. Fitting sports seats. Makes you much more in touch with what the car is doing.

Oli.

Geo Alignment I'm about to do and am ringing around. WIM are currently the favourites and mid way in price (£150). I was thinking of KW v3s as my car isn't quite as nice as my 205 GTi to drive down a country lane (it's bumpy, steering wheel moves around (as does the car etc.)) which the KW car didn't really do much of at all (although I wonder how much the 17" wheels are to blame...).

Tony Bones at Wim was good for me (I think I was the first person on the forum to go there, and have recommended them since.) But make sure you do any chassis modifications before getting the geo done, so if you are planning on new ARB mounts or 968 castor mounts, do them first.

£150? His prices have gone up ...

Oli.

1. New Becker stereo
2. Suspension when I can aford it, not soon anyway.
3. Front wing bottoms similar to what Oli had, will need sorting at some point.
