The ABS/PDAS system on the C4 has always been accessible by a "hammer" - it's the solely ABS system fitted to the C2 which cannot be accessed.

The extended settle time for the hydraulic pressure is often attributable to the system needing a bleed. A recent primary bleed on my C4 reduced the pump time from 90 seconds down to little more than 15. It's a lot cheaper than a new pump!!!

Dave, I really do think 964 C4 ownership would be much easier nowadays as there is a lot more expertise/experience about, and resources like this forum. Back when I had mine, (1998 to 2002) owners didn't really know what to do about these things, and the advice from Porsche was "if it's faulty, replace it". A shame really,as it was a great car.
