550 spyder Anniversary edition

I recently decided to forgo my 'top of the list' 997 order in favour of a switch to the 550 Anni Boxster - JCT in Leeds tipped me off at a bonus allocation of a Tiptronic S they'd rec'd - June build but I've swapped with another customer to get mine in May!

After viewing one of the real examples at my local OPC in Leeds, I also opted for the black/grey combo but in addition to the options mentioned by Andrew elected for the centre console - looked a bit bare and unfinished without it.

As far a tracking your vehicle is concerned you can do it! Don't ask me how, I just heard my man at JCT talking about the hassles some customer had caused one of his fellow salesmen - he knew his car was arriving at the dealership before the sales guy.

Regards, Mike.

Mike
thanks for your message; I did order the (no charge) centre console for exactly the same reasons.
have you heard anything about the painted wheels? I got the impression from the dealership that there was some sort of problem with them!!
I wonder if anyone knows anymore about the mysterious order tracking process[8|]
As mentioned I will (hopefully!) learn next Thursday about build/delivery dates.
Keeping everything crossed for the late May bank hols[8D]
cheers
Andrew

I would be suprised if the painted wheels are a problem.
They are a very popular option on cars throughout the range in Germany. They have been doing them for years.
At the OPC opposite the factory there are usually several cars in with them.

BTW they look great!

Andrew,

Don't get your hopes up too much but when I rang my supplying OPC last week they told me that my car would be built in the next 10 days, i.e., before the end of April and should be here by mid-May. It was originally scheduled for May build with June delivery so it could be up to a month early. That means that I could take it to Porsche Parade in Spain if it arrives in time, but I'll probably bottle out and take my current S instead.

For the record, I too chose the black /grey colour combo with Bose, Top tint and cruise control as extras. Didn't bother with the CD Changer or PCM.

Hello I am new to this site so be gentle with me.

[8D]Same one [8D] Shame they are having such grief with Porsche :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

Hi Ian yes it is the same one I know the price high but I thought I would give it a go as you never know.Of course im not expecting to get that price but would like to make some money out of it. Any senible offers will be considered.

When you have paid £52500 cash for a brand new Boxster S,had 2 wheel bearings gone, horn broken, electric mirror electronics broken, main oil seal gone, (new brake discs due to none use) the list goes on. Porsche Assistance breakdown to come out to my porsche not even being a porsche engineer, not having a clue what was wrong with my car (even wanting to look at the engine under the boot!!) somehow I think you'll be feeling a bit ripped off by Porsche only selling the car at £25,000 with 19K miles on the clock, somehow I don't think you'd be laughing. I apologise to come across harsh but you really should not judge all cases the same with your smart little smiles.

You are quite right I wouldn't be laughing [] Shame you feel the need to sell your 550 ... Good Luck .......

Hevanna,

You have to understand that there are a lot of speculators out there that tend to order the cars that the enthusiasts want, and then sell at a profit because there are not any left for the ones that really want them...

I think suspicion about your sale was always going to be likely. And people never want to pay over the odds!

Potential owners of Carrera GT's have to sign an agreement that they will not sell the car within a certain amount of time. This in an attempt to stop speculators. Currently the third car in the country is on display at Porsche Cars GB, because a couple of days before it was due to be delivered Porsche noticed that it was for sale in the Sunday Times for £400,000 - a mere £185,000 over list price... Currently they are deciding what to do with it, but the "owner" is unlikely to see it.

However, the list of things you have posted that went wrong with your car looks pretty genuine (and horrifying!) to me.

I hear you about Porsche Assistance. I had cause to call them out, and even told them a specific item to bring (that EVERY workshop has). Did they bring it? Guess...
In the UK they are now just the RAC. No Porsche involvement apart from when they receive the car on the back of an RAC low-loader...

The other items all can happen, just not usually on the same car!
Did the dealer not sort things out for you? Looks like a lot of things if you had to do them out of warranty. No goodwill claim?

Hevanna,

If you had so many problems with your Boxster S why did you decide to order a 550? I reckon I would have down to the nearest BMW or Audi dealership.

If anyone wants to give me £48k for my (higher sepc'd) 550 when it arrives they can have it, but I wouldn't choose to sell it speculatively through this forum, which I always thought was for the benefit of enthusiasts, not speculators.

I think you'll be feeling a bit ripped off by Porsche only selling the car at £25,000 with 19K miles on the clock,

why except the p/ex if your not happy. sell it privately.

and why take delivery of the 550 if you don't want it just ask for your deposit back.

Hi there Mark, thanks for being so understanding and yes I am being totally genuine for my reasons to sell. You mentioned the good will gesture from Porsche, I had a final bill which was just under £4600 this was when I was very upset and complained to Porsche, I had to wait for nearly two weeks for an answer to come back whilst H.Q. were looking into it. Whilst this was happening I had no car as the dealership had my Boxster S whilst the inspections where taking place ie. for oil leak, discs etc. as it was out of it's 12 months warranty and the wheel bearings only have a 2 year warranty which I had to pay for as well. Anyway the final straw was when after all of this time with no loan car Porsche H.Q. offered £500 to put towards the bill of £4600 this did not include M.O.T. and further investigations with the transmittion box which needed looking into as the steering was all over the place. As you can guess I decided to get rid of the car which the dealership only gave £25K as I could not justify to get all of the repairs done, and for future I did not know what else might go wrong as I believe that I had a dodgy car of the manufac line.I personnally didn't think it would ever recover my money back and love that I once had for it.

So I was offered the 550 to keep me quite in some respect, which I decided I may as well go for as I didn't want a standard boxster S after what I had already been through, the 550 is special with it's extra upgrades and I would have loved to kept it, but I just can't as I don't trust Porsche anymore for how much we all pay for our cars from them at least I thought there customer service would be second to none. So I don't believe I would ever be able to go back to Porsche unless I moved country's as I'm sure the U.S.A. would not treat there customers the same.

I've put the price up on the anniversary but I'm just trying to recover some of my money through Porsche in someway. Im not trying to rip people off but if I make a little on the car then I will feel happy'er and finally close the chapter on my whole Porsche ordeal.

Hi, with all of the problems on it would you seriously pay to have it put right and sell it? With all of the hassle it's caused me I think anyone would have sold it to the dealership. Please read my post below.

The deposit is none refundable it's is stated on the order form, I did want to cancel it a few days after as I felt I was being pushed into taking this as I didn't really have another suggestion for a car to go into, or none that I was happy to buy that is.

i've been through thinking about cancelling a long standing order myself resantly and i can tell you that all the order forms state that your deposit is refundable and im sure with the 550 being a limited edition the dealer would have no trouble selling it so would be happy to cancel the order with you.

i really can't understand why you would agree to lay down a deposit on a Boxster with a dealer your not happy with. especally if you beleived the deposit to be none refundable. also you stated that they offered you the 550 as a sweetener ?? in what way can this be called a sweetener unless they are doing you a deal?

your not making a lot of sense[:-]

I didnt realise the deposit was non refundable till a couple of weeks ago when I was going down the route of canceling the order.I havent got a problem with the dealership it is with Head Office. The sweetner as you call it was to get me the 550 as the dealership only had 2 on allocation so I felt like finally I had been heard and the customer service I was getting had improved by 100% .I even had a test drive in the 550 (which I was told no one in the country had). The dealership have bent over backwards to restore my faith in Porsche as they are angry with the way Porsche head office have treated me,but as far as im concerened after sitting back and thinking about it its too little too late.

Hevanna

Sorry but I'm still not convinced that you're doing anything but trying to make a quick buck here, and it won't be at the expense of Porsche as you suggest but from an ordinary punter, assuming you can find one daft enough to pay a 13% premium over list.
