718 Cayman S test drive and PDK or Manual

I drove the 718 Cayman S PDK, with sports chrono and PASM. Was hugely impressed with car. I was thinking of speccing 20" alloys and PASM so was useful to try out a car in that configuration, pleased to report that ride in normal setting is excellent. Can be a but unsettled in sport mode on poor road surfaces so better to keep it in normal on this type of road.

The engine has an impressive torque range and spools up very quickly, you can tell it is a turbo motor but the delivery is very linear with only a minor turbo lag from low revs.

Sport chrono dial works really well and is much easier to access than buttons on the centre console.

PDK gearbox provides much quicker shifts than would be possible with manual, also offers the advantage of being able to concentrate on steering with both hands- but is it as involving as a manual

? The jury's still out on that one until I can drive a manual.

The car did not have sports exhaust ( I think that the none on the dealer launch cars had sports exhaust) but sounded OK, not as nice as 981 but not terrible. As I am purchasing a Cayman this is less of an issue than on open top car. Should be better with sports exhaust.

Steering was best electric steering I have come across with very direct feel.
