Thanks for that T.

Strange, but interesting that Porsche have developed a very different approach for one market. A bit of a fiddly job by the look of it compared with just removing a couple of inserts for ROW.

Ralph,

It looks like we do have the same aero adjustments on our 718 GT4s. There's a separate manual detailing track driving and it describes the front aero and rear wing adjustments. Not sure why they're not supposed to be used on the road though?

As part of the "poor man's Manthey" setup I'm going for ( :ROFLMAO: ) I've just done the above aero mods to my car and it's super easy to do. No ramps or jacks required - just two T30 torx heads, some low strength threadlock and an 8Nm torque wrench for the rear spoiler plus a T25 torx head for the front diffuser inserts.

Not sure I'll notice much difference on the road, but at least it's ready for Donington Park and Oulton Park later this year. Combined with the enhanced geometry parts I'm having fitted in a few weeks it should be ready for good all round road and track use, with the bonus of a decent amount of camber but standard ride height [:D]

I’ve seen a few people just drop the ride height for looks... which isn’t what the ride height adjustability in these cars is for given their intended use as fast road/track tools.

You don’t really need to play with ride heights on GT4 other than setting the dampers up for corner weighting if you go that far.

Also, ride height will alter as a side effect of camber adjustment in any case ... The suspension is pretty short travel and so playing with ride heights too much is only going to compromise that further and which then puts you at risk if you hit a pothole or kerb thats too big or your going too quickly.

Yep, agree with all that T. The car is low enough already for regular road use, taking it lower would just make it unusable for me. My car isn't a track tool - I really enjoy road driving so it has to work there too, which is what it's designed to do!

I thought you weren't touching the aero Dave, why the change of heart? Also, what did you do with the screws for the wheel arch pieces? I just put mine back in, without the plastic.

Regarding the driving on track supplement, I didn't receive one either, I called the OPC asking to order one and was informed that Reading have about 1300 on back-order. I've put my name down so will see when or if I get one through the post [:D]

Don't you just wish Porsche would put it online.

Hi Oli,

I thought I'd give the aero a go, no reason not to really especially as it'll be going on track. I've noticed that all the Mathey kits add more aero so I thought it was worth a shot.

I completely removed both the screws and the plastic pieces and have stored them safely away so I don't lose them. I guess the threads could get dirtied up but I suspect I'll never put them back in as long as I have the car. If they do ever need to go back, the threads can be cleaned out. I'd rather that than lose the parts!

Can't you put the screws back in without the panel?

Yep, that's what Oli's done. I'm just being paranoid about losing them if they rattle loose - the panel has a grip on it to match the underside of the screw, which the hole left behind after the panel removal doesn't...

Yeah just thought I'd pop them back in the holes to stop them filling with road grime - wondered if the fabled driving on track brochure said what to do with them!

You're right though Nick, why don't they just put them online, or in the Porsche Good to Know app.
