718 GTS 4.0 Insurance Cost

I have been in contact with Admiral and have confirmation, via web chat (full written confirm to follow) that the reference in policy limits to "organised motoring event" applies only to races / timed events.

My example was - a motoring holiday could be construed as an "organised motoring event" which is plainly nonsense
Well done. That would be worth making a sticky if we can!

Thanks to everyone for the replies.

I went with Admiral in the end, and I thought I'd explain why in case it helps anyone else.

Lots of negotiating with Locktons and the lowest quote I could get was £1400, not garaged, 3rd party immobiliser fitted (Ghost) and limited to 5k miles. I requested a quote for a more realistic 8k milage but that bumped it up to £1800!

Despite the extra value in being able to use it "officially" at Porsche events and the agreed value I really couldn't justify the cost being 3 times the price of Admiral. They came out at £665 with notes on the insurance policy for PPF and only using approved Porsche approved parts. It also includes up to 90 days of European travel fully insured. I won't be using it for track days, but if I do, I'll just pay for track insurance.

I really wanted to use a specialist insurer, but the prices seem ridiculously more expensive for the minimal benefit.

Anyway, I collect the car on Saturday and look forward to a nice dry summer full of driving.

I'm insured with Admiral having been with Esure for many years. Admiral were cheaper (just under £1k) than everyone on this occasion but it does vary so much with postcode age and occupation.

I'm going on the next factory visit so checked that european is the same level of cover as in the UK and it is.

Enjoy the factory tour.

I'm insured with Footman James, on a multi-car policy. I've got my Cayman S and my daily driver, a Honda Jazz covered. Both are unlimited mileage, with agreed value on the Cayman. I've just had the paint refreshed and PPF applied, so rang FJ to let them know about it. I was pleased to be told there was no charge to add it on as a modification, I just got a confirmation in writing, confirming it. My policy cost me just over £600 when I renewed in October. I'm happy with that, as someone else mentioned, Locktons were more expensive and didn't offer cover on my daily.

I'll keep Footman James in mind for next year. I like the agreed value part, something I couldn't get with Admiral.
