Hi, just to let you know of a Porsche event and open day coming up in April that will appeal to all Porsche enthusiasts.
After 5 years of intense work by UK specialists we are unveiling my 1972 911S/RSR rebuilt to Martini Prototype RSR spec.

The date for your diary is Midday, Saturday 6th April all are welcome!

BS Motorsport
Westcott Venture Park
Westcott
Buckinghamshire
HP18 0XB

This is the very special car that has been built to recreate the missing prototype Porsche RSR that raced in the 1973 Targa
Florio and then disappeared. Here for some background and to give you an idea of what we've done, is a still to be finished
flipbook of the project up to a short while ago. Ignore the deliberate mistake, Porsche finished 1st, 3rd and 6th! Oh and we
are up to 330hp now..

Neil Bainbridge of BS Motorsport has been responsible for the engineering, Bruce Cooper at Sportwagen and his metalwork
team have created the unique body shape that the Prototype had, and the final racing livery, incredibly all done in paint has
been achieved by Jason and Lee at Unit 24.

Everyone is welcome to join us on the day for the unveiling of the car, expect strobe lights loud music and dry ice and then
we'll be starting it up and doing a demonstration run. There'll be lots else to see with an engine running in the dyno testing
cell, rare Porsche's on the lifts to examine, and Neil will be in his engine room to chat about his work and your cars.

The whole story has been documented on this much watched DDK forum thread, but be warned it's very long, so perhaps
from pages 62 on will give you an idea of the work and detail that's gone into the project.

I've been on and off a long time member of the PCGB but as an Early car enthusiast only ever a bit of a lurker here as it's
pretty quiet in this section, hopefully this might just stir a little more interest in the older cars.

Thanks Mike, I've put it in my diary and will hope to be there. I'm looking for a new specialist to look after my 964RS (since Bob Watson ceased trading) and Neil at BS Motorsport might just fit the bill. Much looking forward to seeing your car.

Regards, Rich

Be good to see you Rich, Neil's doing some pretty special 964 work at the moment, I'm sure you'll find it interesting.

At last!! It's in the diary....time?[:)]

I assume that the usual suspects will be there?[;)]

Sorry guy's, as for timing Midday for a chat and look around ready for a 1pm unveiling. And as it's lunchtime a little bite to eat perhaps after.......

For those who have asked about hotels, I've done extensive research testing local pubs with rooms, hic, but sadly due
to everyone in Bucks either getting married that weekend or having dirty weekends, everywhere decent is booked for
that Friday and Saturday night.

So here's an alternative, it's the Premier Inn at Bicester, but the good news is that's it's brand new, only been open
3 weeks and it's ÂŁ60/70 a night! http://www.premierinn.com/en/hotel/BICOXF/bicester

If your trying to persuade your better half to come it's walking distance to Bicester Shopping Village the outlet place.

For those who want to eat locally there's the Mole and Chicken restaurant, not cheap but the best in the area, and they
even have a few rooms on the Friday night. http://www.themoleandchicken.co.uk/

Then a couple of great local pubs for food are the Bell at Chearsley http://www.bellchearsley.co.uk/default.asp?textpage=home
and the Crown at Cuddington http://www.thecrowncuddington.co.uk/

Hi Mike , this is the biggest story to hit the early 911 page for quite a while , thanks for posting and for the invite.

I hope to be along in the bahama yellow car , it had a good thirst -quenching run out from SW7 to Goodwood on Sunday for the tax- exempt Breakfast meet....... used well over half a tank for the return journey [8|]

Thanks Oldtimer, I was really hoping to help re-invigorate the Early Car section of the PCGB a little, it is a bit quiet here but
hopefully by coming out of the closet so to speak and meeting more PCGB folk people at the unveiling and open day, we can
raise our profile a little more.

Have been seeking the PCGB's help in looking for the new project, but more on that another time!

....I was really hoping to help re-invigorate the Early Car section of the PCGB a little, it is a bit quiet here...

Not much chance of that Mike. Less than 40 thread posts here in the last year! Everyone has gone across to DDK or of course set up a private off shoot business called Castle at the Classics [:D][:D][:D][8D]

Ah the "forum" question and the "PCGB is quiet" question. It gets raised every so often.

The early scene has been widely spread for many years and there has never been one central place where everybody is. The register has no desire to try to push its forum to be that place. It remains as a welcoming place to any new owners and as an available resource for any owners to ask questions and make events known. The register is as healthy as ever and you will find register members active on all the different forums and at different events. There are so many classic targeted events these days that there is more than enough to do each year. The register concentrates more on keeping a record of all UK cars, researching historical archives and assisting members with research and technical queries plus pointing them in the direction of good specialists. Between myself, Robin Walker who can always be found helping at events, Garry Hall with his SWB expertise and Russell Lewis at RSR Engineering providing specialist technical support we can usually help.

As for Classics At The Castle does it really matter who organises it. I happen to get on very well with Fred and the team and always fully support the event. Anybody else who wants to organise an event go ahead and the register will give it all the support it can. To that end I have put a note in the next copy of Porsche Post in support of Mike's event.

Looking forward to a drive out and to see this special car Mike. I even had to cancel something rather important so not in the best books at the moment but it will be worth it!

Thanks so much for the support Ian really do appreciate it! I did email Porsche Post about the event but never heard back.

Been working flat out to get the car ready for the unveiling, only two weeks to go!

Engine has gone in and the oil lines connected, just working on the wiring loom at the moment before the first start up in the car.
Really looking forward to the unveiling day, there's been a great response so should be a good crowd of Porsche people there,
see you on the day! The DDK thread has been updated with a new pic.

This looks utterly fantastic.

Does the book exist ?

I own a LHD '73 911S and a RHD '75 2.7 Carerra --- I wouldn't mind at-all stimulating these pages, but regarding the 6th, I will be racing at Donnington ...

So I can only wish you a fabulous day.

Rich --- I can only say that Neil B. has an amazing reputation ... a re'current mention by many dealers, but I can offer no first hand experience [;)]

Hi Mike
Sorry I can't be there for the grand unveiling....but thanks for the recent sneak preview up at Neil's. I can only imagine how it sounds and goes but if it's anything like it looks, it'll be momentous. It made my 2.7RS feel really tatty alongside it. But then I suppose it is really tatty!

@Rich - I have known Neil for a number of years and he has become a great friend in that time. He has forgotten more about RS's than I'll ever know and has lived the air-cooled RS dream for 30 years and more...racing, running and repairing. He's not one for polishing the cars, he loves to see them being used for their intended purpose and he looks after some incredible machines. I'm sure your 64RS would be in really safe hands. And he's a truly expert engine rebuilder (oh, how I know this)

And if you really want to see what your car is capable of, then get him to take you for a few laps round a circuit. He took me out in my 2.7RS and I have never seen anyone so expert at the wheel. Scared the cr4p out of me. When you meet him, you'll understand why

Ant

I love all old Porsches and would be excited to view the unveiling of this marvellous creation, if possible.
Hope this is OK[:)]

Next Weekend! it's getting closer......

We're working flat out now to complete the car and make everything ready for next Saturday. Judging from a little fun with had with a
certain Classic Porsche magazine last Wednesday, it should be a great day, might have to invest in ear defenders for everyone though!
