86 Turbo Re-Paint

Looking smart John.

The reflection of the mobile phone show's just how flat you have got it - nice one [8D]

Looks fantastic, right colour on th right car of the right year! What is really useful is hearing the paint you have used... I will have to look it up (and find that it is unsuitable for amateurs, and only available to the trade in bulk!)

Thanks Paul.... You of all people know what goes into a paint job. Very few are " Straight from the gun " affairs. Yes, If you have a perfect dust free booth and the right gun/paint/technique etc, but for a home job there will always be dust settle in the paint that needs rubbing down, That in itself is no big deal, The killer of any paint job is Fisheyes caused by silicones.

Thanks Tref - The paint used was a single stage , two-pack...i.e....paint with a hardener. Lesonal is a quality paint as there are many on the market, Sikkens, Du-pont, Glasurit etc. Amatuers can buy and use it, just be sure to use the proper masks etc.

This may sound a bit odd, and not a comment on this car ,but I've seen paint jobs that were polished glass smooth and the paint looked really thick, just somehow they didn't look quite right.

I know what you mean, many older cars have had numerous paint jobs in their lifetime and paint layers can become quite thick!....The best paint job will always be from the factory when new... thats for sure.

Since you clearly have lots of spare red paint fancy doing another ;-)
Very nice and a vast improvement.
