Stoke Goldington Steam Rally - ADVANCE NOTICE - 8th & 9th May 2004.

What is it ?

Well, it's one of the best country fairs and steam rally's in the UK. Also, it is conveniently, located in a village not far from Olney, Bucks and set in excellent rural countryside.

It attracts the huge arrary of the best period Steam powered exhibits in the land (and yes, you can take a ride on them). In addition, you will find rides, childrens entertainment, shops, stalls, stands, and of course many working exhibits from rural life as well as craft tents, display's of historic cars, and other sideshows. A very interesting feature is a regular demonstration of field ploughing by traditional shire horses - fantastic to see how it was done all those years ago. Real horsepower.

So what ?
For this year we have secured a 10m X 25M space for exhibiting our cars on both days of the show. If you have been to previous events, you may have noticed a select number of car clubs;, TVR , Jaguar, as well as general vintage vehicles. However, this year we have the opportunity to put a Porsche display for the public, and parade our cars in the central arena whilst the commentary describes the car's history etc, for the audience.

Are you interested ?
We rather hope you are, and so we'd like to gain commitment for up to 10 cars from the club, for each of the 2 days the event is being held. (Date is 8th & 9th May 2004) - 20 cars in total, 10 per day. At time of writing, we have secured commitment from a number of members (in and outside the region) but would really welcome support from R10.

Aims.
Simple:- To build a representitive sample of Porsche's production across as many models as we can, in an entertaining way for the general public. Please do try and help if you can because we're hoping to get as much commitment from R10 (and surrounding regions) as soon as possible. I will pass you details of the event, registration etc, as soon as you contact me/

Need to know more ?

Then please call Steve on 07966 070848, Or e-mail:-steve.darnell@virgin.net

CLUB NIGHT - 9th MAY

In response to the Region's planned attendance at Stoke Goldington on 9th May, the CLUB NIGHT MEETING has been relocated to Cowpers Oak pub in Weston Underwood, between Stoke G and Olney at 6.00pm. This will not prevent you going to the pub earlier!

Please let me know if you are likely to attend as we need to advise the landlady of approximate numbers.

R10 Regional Organiser

Peter - thanks for the offer of your car. [:)] Could you please e-mail at the address below, then I can submit you your "entry information"...

THANKS

Steve

I can have the Boxster available for the Sunday if you need another volunteer.

Guards Red, well,

<-- this one actually.

I'm sure I will have some or other Porsche available. Will the cars be protected from hordes of sticky fingered kids ? & Mom's with loads of bags etc designed to scratch ?

Allan[:)]

Hi Tony / Alan. Could you please mail me off forum to get your "Exhibitors" information pack ? It's a ZIP file with a bunch of information inside. and needs to be filled in for all the attending cars. We're a little light on the saturday, so if you could look at this day as an option, we'd be a better balanced region.

Regarding sticky fingers / dribble etc...Well...I have no idea. However, Gary Hornes brother takes his TVR there every year and I'll ask him to give me an idea of this one

Thanks. E-mail address below...ASAP please (to help the organisers not for me)

Steve

Wot no replies.... approx 350 in the region and so far.... only 4 cars signed up.... [X(]

Call all volunteers. At this rate, the TVR boys will outperform us !

Steve, don't know if you got my email the other day. Was just checking: you want me to sign and return to you the "Decleration for all Exhibitors" and "Advance Notice" paper.

Anything else?

We have only 4 confirmed supporters of this event, and to date I have recieved only 2 filled-in declaration forms to my home address (as per instructions). Unless we get more support (easter is the cut off date) then, the event looks shakey...[X(]

where IS region 10 ?

I have two kids with sticky fingers - one specially who likes a good feely-touchy session with anything Porsche, especially white ones. Okay if I bring them?

...and there's me thinking that it was Tracy who likes a good feely touchy session with anything Porsche, I was about to offer my 964 for starters. [;)]

Can I bring mine along too, they are tied, gagged, and strapped into the back of my car so that they don't blemish it's perfect interior!!!! [&:]

Nice one Johh...have marked up the master attendee list as per discussion, and will now add you to the e-news update list.

Thanks for offering your (handsome) car.

STEVE

I am bringing my 170 bhp turbo over from region 19 for display at the steam rally. It was put back on the road after being written off in an accident. I plan to accept the invitation to come to your monthly meeting. See my previous posts for before and after pics

Brilliant news this. R10 needs to throw out a big "thks" for all those chaps / ladies coming out of region to support us...

THANKS

Is there anyone going to Stoke Goldington from the Aylesbury, Marlow, High Wycombe Area on the Saturday who doesn't mind staring at the vents in the front panel of a 924 turbo in their rear view mirror?
