Hi,

has anyone seen this car recently? i'm trying very hard to track it down! i've managed to get this photo evidence from Camtune/OPC Byfleet who knew of the car via a previous owner. the old owner no longer knows the whereabouts of it, i'd love to purchase it as it was a great car that belonged to my Dad.

any help appreciated.

Cheers,

Matt

I did the vehicle check on the DVLA website and this came up:

The enquiry is complete The vehicle details for A495 XTL are:
Date of Liability 01 05 2008 Date of First Registration 01 09 1983 Year of Manufacture 1983 Cylinder Capacity (cc) 3506CC CO2 Emissions Not Available Fuel Type Petrol Export Marker Export Vehicle Status Unlicensed Vehicle Colour SILVER Vehicle Type Approval
Vehicle Excise Duty Rate for vehicle 6 Months Rate £112.75 12 Months Rate £205.00

As you can see, it bears an "export marker". That means that either our Irish or even our New Zealand/Australian cousins have the car.

Now, I am on the (porsche 911 )impact bumper forum on www.impactbumpers.com. On there is a chap with the handle "whippy930", who is well known in the Porsche Club Ireland. I will post the picture to him and ask hif he can find a member who's car had that registration originally. I will also ask him his contact details, so perhaps you two could start digging!

Best regards,

Bert

Come to think of it, I shall also send a personal message to two people within the Australian Porsche Club, who frequent DDK, the pre 1973 porsche forum on www.ddk-online.com.

I'm sure we'll get there!!

If you want to have a go in one, my 930 is booked in with Bob Watson engineering, http://www.bobwatsonengineering.co.uk/ for a charity rolling road day this saturday at 09:30hr. Its an icon and I'm happy that it graces my garage!

Response already:

Bert, I am pretty sure that car is in Co. Wicklow- It has been bored out to 3.5l. A fellow called Shane owns it I am 99% sure. I will make more checks and come back to you tonight.

Regards

Whippy.

There we are. Watch this space!

Here it is during the PC ireland summer BBQ this summer. It is still on UK plates as the owner wanted to wait until it was cheaper to import following the new rules.

Matt, if you pm me your email I can bring you in touch with the current owner and you can take it from there.

Hope this helps,

Bert
