911 Carerra 2 vs Boxster S

Personally I'm not so sure that Cayman S needs more power. Having owned a 997S, I rarely could use it all, even on track. I suppose it is horses for courses, but Cayman S does it for me. As for performance, it comes down to a plethora of things: bhp, traction, aerodynamics and importantly bhp/ton. The following may be of interest

BHP/ton Top speed
Boxster 3.2 197 167
Cayman S 208 171
997 221 177
997 S 237 182

It is almost as if PAG have designed the range around performance. Certainly, if one wanted Cayman S purely as a track car one should consider a power upgrade. They are already available, though I suspect it will be a long time before PAG supplies a more powerful engine. Moreover, the Cayman chassis is so good it can take oodles more power.

You forgot to mention driver ability Derek! [:D]

It seemed clear from watching the Stig put it through its paces that it's already compromised by the lack of a LSD. You don't fix that by throwing horsepower at it.

It seems to me that the range is designed around the wallet.

JCB..
