Thought I would post my step by step, just in case anyone else fancies covering there door cards. Quite simple really but very rewarding and cost effective. Just let it sit for 10minutes for the glue to cure for a while before fitting back in the car.

Just going through the brakes and undercarriage, thought I would just clean up the wheels a little too. Put the rear mud guards back too.

New gear cover, and covered the centre section with the same carpet, popped in cheap little head unit as well. :)

Well done,Marc-keep up the good work-I thought about carpeting the doors at home ,then realised the cat would scratch them[:)]

However joking aside,I am still struggling with my friends 1976 924--a new fuel pump is on order,so in meantime we've been sorting out electrics--now got all front & rear sidelights working, also indicators, can't check reversing lights until I get underneath again(when I fit the new pump) & remake the reversing switch contacts-has no rear foglamps-so just the brakelights which don't work-continuity to rear wiring plugs -but the car has what they call a Tandem master cylinder with 2 pressure switches -1 at front & 1 at rear of the cylinder so left it today not knowing whether the feed to the switches is missing or the switches don't work-next week will have to check the feed wires back into the car.

Sadly even the Full Workshop manual has no mention of these 2 switches although it covers the mechanical brake switch fitted to the later models.

Just off to the garden to check wiring diagrams (again!)-but sadly have been unable to get the one for this series of 924 with this brake cylinder & points ignition.Have you anything?

Getting close to MOT time :) Interior nearly there, note new leather on steering wheel, quite pleased with myself for that:) , front wing was re sprayed 'badly', so rubbed back and lacquered, better now. And new 'Go faster stripes added- from 'Green to Black'. The car also came with Private plates, which have now been added, couple more days and I will book it in for the TEST !

PS, Sorry not to reply 'Vitesse' I don't have anything, but will look on the Porsche PET to see if that gives any indicators :)

Marc, the car looks like its coming along really nicely. I love the simplicity of the 924 and the fact you can get so much done on your driveway at home.

Keep the updates coming!

While working on Big Red (My 911) - I have moved my 924 (Austine) to the bottom drive where she awaits her MOT - and like a big kid I have put some racing strips on her - Couldn't help myself- egged on by my children well that's my excuse :)

Bad news/ Good news, I took her for an MOT this Morning - Failed :( But not on anything too dramatic - Brakes imbalanced across back axle, and the horn not working). I already have a new set of horns, and a little messing with the rear brake set up, and she should then Pass. :)

Thanks Paul, Generally I'm very pleased, Haven't managed to get out to her over the last few days- weather and work etc, but I know she will all sorted soon, and then I have to turn my attention back onto to 'Pearl', my 924s.

Went to the Classic Car Show, Yesterday with my son. Loved the Porsche Display - Simply wonderful. It has spurred me back to life on my 924S.

My son loved the 924 Carrera GTP

So not much going on, but I have brought a second hand engine for Pearl (Blue) as I still haven't got the bottom of why it wont start, and now the weather is starting to look a little better I can start the welding on the sill. I took Goldie for an MOT, but she failed on the rear brakes, nothing major so again with the weather looking better hopefully will have that sored very soon. I have also decided the have a go at turning 'Peral' into a Gt replica, as I have to really spend lots of time on her re-commissioning nearly everything as she has been sat for along time so really fancy having a go.

Finally pulled my finger out, got the little 924 through its MOT, lots of little issues but nothing major so will be on the road this weekend.

Shiny bits are always good :)

I love the fact that these cars are so home spanner friendly.

Cut, fit and welded a new sill in place today. My welding isn't the best looking in the world, but good penetration so when grinded back looks OK:)
