924 racecar bought

i made a 250 bhp nissan silvia 1.8 turbo now that would be ok as well and very good fast car

Should be suitable for CSCC "Future Classics" as long as its a model type produced up to end of 1989 & complies with all MSA & series regs. A turbo equivelancy of 1.7x applies so it would probably be in the 2 litre to 3 litre class.
 
Ah, now that is really interesting. I have a series 1 924Turbo with a seized engine. I was wondering what to do with it. This gives me a bit of perspective. Colin Belton at Ninemeister still knows bucketloads of hints to get over 220 reliable and usuable bhp for ROAD use out of the 932 (RHD 924 turbo) and he had a series 1 bomb with exactly that spec as a courtesy car.... Can't believe I missed out on that one when it came up for sale :(

I would love to see a 924 turbo out racing in "Future Classics". I think it would go very well, but, as mentioned earlier in the thread, it would receive a 1.7x turbo equivelancy putting it in the 3 litre to 4 litre class. Nothing wrong with that & you'd probably be competitive with that fine handling, you just need to be aware that's all. Must be loads of handling/ set up experience around, & transferable parts, from the 924 series and the various 944/968s. You'd be up against 911s, Rover Tomcats & TR7V8s. A 924T would be eligible for the invite to the Nurburgring race, as well as all the other races.

It would be good to get Ninemeister enthused about the idea!
 
Bert - alternatively why not put a standard 924 lump in it and join me - I could do with more company! I personally love the reliability of the understressed 138 bhp from 2 litres and the fun is really in the corner speeds, feel and handling. The standard brakes are fine at my level but you would need to upgrade if you had more power and I still dont think you could catch 400 bhp of TR7 etc! Also I am on the limit as far as oil surge and if you do manage to increase corner speeds you would have to start thinking of solutions to this - at the moment I get by by just over filling a bit. I think the 924 can be a class winner in up to 2 litre and is just as much fun as the big boys.

If you want to race against other 2 litre 924's, why don't you race it in the 924 championship?

Well, you can do both I suppose. Or mix and match depending on budget.

The advantage of the CSCC "Future Classics" Series (and the "Super 70s" class that the 924 would fit in to) is that membership & registration fees are cheaper; entrance fees for races are cheaper for the track time; some people like the 30 min practice & 40 min race format as it makes a trip away to circuits better value; the race format allows two drivers to share a car (and cost); you can race in a 1 hour race at Spa and a 300Km race at the Nurburgring; and there is the opportunity to race in a "Sports Vs Saloon" challenge (sprint) race later in the day at most CSCC meetings for just £90-100 further enhancing the value for money aspect of the meeting.

In my view a 924 is the ideal car for "Super 70s" as the availability of race prepared cars and parts at kean prices is almost unbeatable and the combination of good handling and reliability make it the car to beat in that class, with the opportunity for some decent "giant killing", too.
