924S for sale

I have a very similar car for sale which was an ex concours winner and still in vgc etc etc. There seems to be no interest in 924s at the moment. Am I right? It would be a shame to trade in a good 924 in for srappage, but if that is the only way to get £3k for it, what other options are there?

Congratulations on your mental arithmetic skills.

Theonly reason I added that information is that some people knew the car and have expressed interest in knowing where it is today.

Thanks.
Good luck with the sale!

It will never fetch the asking price-our 1986 "D" reg 924S is just as good with 90K miles but official valuation £2500 Max[&o]

Well, with the same engine, less weight, less wind resistance, slightly more nimble,it might be but I've never had the opportunity to sprint alongside a 944 to see if that is the case despite the 924s engine having slightly less power. It would probably be mainly academic in real time.

Aren't most performance figures academic? Test track facilities + professional drivers + car in 100% condition + perfect road surface conditions + ideal weather conditions = manufacturers performance numbers......not in your average daily driving situation!

A very late E plate with the 160 engine should be quicker 0-60 as lighter and faster as less frontal area., but this is only a 150 engine I'm sure.
Yes Not special enough for 7k.

I had in from an unimpeachable source that it was a 'myth' that the 924S engine was downrated. It was a marketing ploy to sell the 944 as a more powerful car. The 924S engine was, however, set up at the factory to run on lower grade petrol.

I agree that the price is too steep. I have an F reg 924S done 96K, one of the best original condition cars left (Porsche Club and experts opinion), which is for sale at nearest offer to £2,995!!!

I've had 2 924S's. They are brilliant cars provided you fit bigger section Tyres. The 195's are not up to the power. I've 205's on the rear and 195's on the front which stops any tendency to 'white line'.

Wouldn't think of selling mine but I'm moving abroad so really need a left hand drive. Will be looking for another 924S though!!

The best Porsche for a recession!!

Only 1988 runout 924S models had the 944 spec engine. All of those prior to that date were detuned so as not to challenge the 944. It really wouldn't have made any marketing sense at all to have the same power in both, thus disadvantaging the 944 "Supercar"........
