'94 993 chip and remap??

It might be cheaper, but as they say you get what you pay for. I have used off the shelf chips in the past for other cars and you do see an improvement, however, it is nothing to a bespoke 'on the fly' reprogramming of the ECU for your car which is miles better.

Don't cut corners, it is not worth it.

Mbrands it sounds like you have a very special engine there,,,268.5 ft/lb before tuning is very impressive indeed....the factory 3.8 engine in the RS is only 260 ft/lb and Gt3 Mk1 has 273 ft/lb.......your current 284.3 looks amazing![8|]

I do get the feeling Wayne's rolling road could be optimistic on the torque figures but perhaps not by much - when Lee and I had ours done the most noticeable change we both commented on was mid range torque.

From what little I know and after speaking to Wayne himself it make's sense - something about 2 valve heads good for torque.

Can't explain the relatively low RS torque though - presumably Wayne could take that up to beyond 285.

260 ft/lb is not neccesarily low.....that is Porsche own din quoted figure for the 3.8 lump.

I am potentially interested in having my car re-mapped, but to be honest if i was spending that ammount of money and was quoted bhp/torque figures that were out of line I would walk.

You guys having had the remap can tell the difference from the driver seat which is what matters at the end of the day.

I had my 993S rechipped by Wayne yesterday - picked up a varioram problem that I didn't realise I had since my last service - and picked up an extra 30bhp. But more importantly the car is much smoother - in traffic it doesn't jerk about as you go on and off the throttle - would definently recomend for the money.
