It would seem that there might be some F1 testing at Silverstone while we are away, but it's not going to be as good as what we will be doing.[]
Watching the F1 testing on a dodgy satellite down-link in a shed in scotland somewhere ????
[][][]
Apparently, dibs on 'King size bedroom with en-suite bathroom'
Sod the bed rooms, dibs on any garage space or any ground floor bed rooms with french windows. []. I'm sure Beaky shouldn't drip too much oil on the carpet.
Dibs on not getting a haunted room.
I always think a side by side looks less threatening. More of a tool of a country gentleman.
When you all heading North? I think we will go most of the way on the Friday, leaving a short drive Saturday.
I'm going "all the way" on Staurday. According to the draft road book, Nick has organised a route up which involves meeting at 8:00 am at the services on the M11. (0 miles)
Next stop is 154 miles at Ferrybridge services on the A1.
At 219 miles we exit A1M @ J56 onto B6275 heading for The George @ Piercebridge whence, at 13:30, begins our first special stage []. This includes approx 100 miles of A and B roads before we stop for tea at The Rumbling Turn in Moffat.
The remaining 100 odd miles are motorway.
It sounds like a great route and would be a shame to miss. Why not stop overnight at Piercebridge so that you can join us on SS1.
Don't forget to get hold of a two way radio before the event.

Yes sounds good obviously final planning will occur after seeing the roadbook, I have a selection of radios, airband may not be so usefull for talking to you guys though! well apart from Rick anyway!
Tony
Scotland approach frequency ?? [][][]
well apart from Rick anyway!
What ever radio Rick uses it needs to be loud.
Departure 11 days and counting. Still room for a couple more. You are going to be so mad when you miss it. Talking to Nick earlier this ain't going to be repeated, so you miss out this year you don't get a second chance.
Starting to consider final preparations ready for Saturday with Beaky going to see his mates at Autostrassa for oil change, check over, replace cross over pipe, install lambda, helicoil his rogue bolt and weld on the TiAL which has come loose again. []
I'm becomming a little concerned as to whether I have enough room for all the gear. So far the packing list is looking like:-
Money
Radios
Tool Kit (full flying kit II)
Oil for topping up
Camera gear - DSLR
Camera gear - Compact
tripod
Case & job files
lap top
Playstation
GT4
Ipaq
GPS
Mobile
Chargers and power supplies:-
...Camera
...Phone
...Lap Top
...Ipaq
Batteries
Peter's fluffy friends
Peters toys and books (max loading 100 kg)
Beer
Walking boots
Wet weather gear
Torches
Munchies and Red Bull for the trip
CD's
More beer.
Oh I guess a change of socks might be good as well.
Did someone say link cable assuming more than one tele will be available?
Damn, wouldn't that be good.
A funny thing happened this morning after dropping Beaky off at the doctors. On the way home, after Belinda picked me up, Belinda asked "Does Nick drink?" I laughed so much that I damn nigh crashed the car.
Steady sonny, there's no guarantee that your Road Book will have the same routes in it as everybody else's does
I wouldn't worry unduely about that Nick. The odds on me being able to work out where I am supposed to be, and when, is on the far side of remote any way. That's by no means a reflection on your excellent Road Book by the way, (just in case I accrue further points towards a wrist slapping.) []
With the radios mentioned are we talking the cheap licence free limited range jobbies? if so what channel? I will put my pair in.
We are indeed. Channel 500.
It sounds like I need to earn a bit more on GT4 so that I can soup up my Ford GT. Next purchase has got to be slicks methinks.
So with Rick's, John's and Tony's radios, we should have enough for one per car?
Well certainly enough for Rick's, John's and Tony's cars at least. []
