944 turbo 220 or 250

Why? Is there really that much of a difference. I was going to cut out the battery try on the 24 and weld in 44's panel and fuse box. Then use battery mount fron 44 in the back of the 24.Also instal plastic tank from 44 and whole rear end onc torsion bar housing.torque tube. gearbox engine etc. Is the 24's shell really different in regards to mounting points or can I use the bits of the 44 shell and weld onto 24 shell.
Yes it is that much difference most importantly beeing the front crossmember that supports the 944 engine and suspension, also the gearbox mounting is different.You would have to graft in either engine mounts or the 944 crossmember.One other thing is that the base 924 body is much weaker than the 951 body that has significant reinforcements .

Ok Thanks for that! It's a 924 s then that I need. I probably could fabricate mounting points etc ,but as i said before I don't want a huge project with a massive amount of body fabrication. So advice heeded and a serch for an S is now on the cards.

I have never looked into the question, but presumably there are some casting marks or aspects of engine numbers that enable external identification of a 2.7?

The engine no would give it away - M11 or 12 for a 2.7 I think - easy to see on an old 2.5 a lot harder the newer the car!
Still haven't got to see my 2.7 yet!

2.7? If it is then I will eat my hat!
:ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:
For the needs of the OP i dont think it really matters if it has the 2.7 or not.If the body is straight and rust free it makes a good starting point,if not i wouldn't even go near it. As for the rest,drievetrain and suspension they will be changed anyway. Too bad the interior isn't nicer but for the money he's asking it's tempting anyway plus he can make at least half the money back by selling the parts he wont need.

Do cookies fit in the arches of a 924? Must be a tight fit!
They fit only with a lot of negative camber if not they stick out quite much.Interesting to see what happens when tire meets fender if he hits a pothole.
