Me personally, I would start with a basic stage 1 tune up. Cheap and cheerful. Induction kit, Exhaust plus de cat, ecu re mapped (and chipped if required). This can make good in roads into power gains on the cheap, before having to start upgrading fuel, brakes, suspension etc..... If you're thinking about upping the boost, save a bit of extra cash and get an in care Greddy or Apexi boost controller. A very nice bit of kit that you could pick up 2nd hand from a JAP CAR forum. I had one on my old Skyline and MR2 Tubby. You can control the boost from inside the car then and have it set up properly for different driving conditions. As previously said though, don't overdo it or there be some costly repairs.
