If you want an oil debate try my new retro ; the CVH top end is meant to like 10W40/50 for the sake of the tappets and camshaft but the bottom end (Zetec) is meant to run on 5W30. Slightly issue. I plan to compromise on 5W40 :).
Why not try running it on water. Or golden syrup. Or bleach. Or something like that, so you can ruin it nice and quickly and buy another 944 and join us here properly again ....

Oli.

Careful Oli, some would think that you are missing my presence from 944 ownership :p. The truth is that I probably will return to frontrunner ownership, but probably not a late Turbo or S2 ; they do say to never go back. That still does leave the 924S, 944 Turbo 220 (early offset) and of course the 968 :). But there are many other cars I fancy trying out too. My friend's Citroen DS21 for instance is a lovely thing. Different but utterly fantastic :).

Ooooooh now that is one of very few cars that I would consider trading my S2 in for! They are indeed fantastic. However it seems you need to have a garage to keep them in and also be on very friendly terms with your local bodyshop as the trips there to have rust cut out are frequent and expensive ....

Your friend probably has both, as well as very good taste in cars!

My friend has one of those, a garage. In terms of rust he did quite well, but it is probably one of the reasons why it has not moved for 4 months! Yes the brakes take some getting used to, the column change manual 'box is a little iffy, the steering is super light, but OMG the ride is simply sublime! IMO no other car can replicate the sensation. With the Bosch D-Jetronic in working order engine pulls well too!
