944 wanted

Declan
Heres the one for you in Co.Louth.. VRT paid and all...! Only thing is she is a "Kings Ransom" €13k is a bit much for the car when you can get the same for £4-5 stg. This turns into €7k ...VRT will sting you about €2k.... Do any of you lads know this fella/car....?

Ouch ! 13K sure is a bit steep.

Last time I checked on VRT it was about €1275 for a 2.5 or about €1500 for an S2.

Must get a look at your motors sometime. You're only down the road !

Well that one was not for me, and I have come to a decision about the 944s, they are very nice and I do prefer them to the 924's, it's a wheel arch thing!!! but I think I'll leave buying one for now as I need to think of all the other expenses that go with owning a Porsche.
One thing I'd like to say is thankyou for everyones information, and what a great bunch of people on this forum.
One day I will buy one! but not just yet.
Cheers
Trev

Looks like a clean example but my budget is not that high at the moment just got 2k at the moment

I have a nice 944 Lux for sale around your price range "¦ originally detailed in an old thread (click here for a look) back in November. It's been kept garaged since then and needs a few little jobs doing to get it back up to standard for me to sell now. If you were interested at all, we could come to some arrangement about how much you want to spend versus how much of the work I think it needs gets done before selling.

Roughly how much would those jobs cost to get done, that would be along drive as i live just outside Luton also what service history has your car got?

As with most 944s that I've seen, the service history starts off with Official Porsche Centre stamps for the first few years, then tails off into a folder full of receipts from independents instead. There's a two or three year gap in the records, but otherwise it's not bad. The car has been looked after by Motortune in Shotts during my ownership, and the owner before me used an OPC in London.

If you're that far away, I would recommend leaving it until I've got the car sorted rather than trying to drive it that far in less than perfect condition. I actually bought the car two years ago from a guy in Central London "¦ the drive back home was fantastic.

I'm going to buy a new pair of rear tyres (somewhere between £200 and £300, probably) and then take the car to Motortune for a health check and to fix the power steering (which has deteriorated whilst the car sat unused for a few months). I expect to be spending another hundred or so at least on that, then put it through the MOT. There's always the chance that something unexpected will crop up at that point, but I live in hope!

All the big jobs have been done on the car over the past couple of years: belts, oil seals, clutch, shocks"”so there isn't too much that can go wrong really.

Jim, perhaps you could let us know what model , year spec etc you are looking for / expecting.

Best of luck
Mas
