944s top speed,

I feel my 115 is now a little insignificant, but i forgot to mension i had a knackerd balljoint as well, also low on fuel, my missus in the car, my unborn child in the boot, a headache, and the police behind me, with a speed camera coming up...and was on a test drive.......with the owner who was suffering from somekind of sweating dissorder that he haddent told me about previously....no insurance, an mot my mate had drawn by hand, wich i dont think he did but his 4 year old is very advanced for her age, with a little old biddy wanting to cross the road between a couple of parked cars, I WILL NEVER DO THAT IN AN ASDA CAR PARK AGAIN...............

I am happy to confirm that Beaky feels very stable at 70mph. I have no idea if he goes any faster as I have never tried.

I believe your speedo may be under-reading by approx. 30 mph.......[;)]

And I thought it was just that other cars were travelling slower these days.

I assumed that, as all the other 944's (and baby 944) following me on Sunday were doing the same speed we must have been doing 70. I think Mr Smith might have touched 75 (by my speedo) when he did his jet plane impersonation.

I might have accidentally gps'd 152mph (156ish on speedo) on the way to the ferry in an excited buzz of heading to Le man a couple of years ago....until I bottled it. It felt like it had a lot more to go though. Obviously I wasn't paying attension and thought I was going around 70....

Well I feel like a real wuss. The most i've managed is 125/130 but I was cruising at that speed for about 30mins. I can't remember which road it was, i think it was on the Autobahn [;)] but at that speed the car felt great, it felt like it had plenty more to give but things on the horizon don't half come up on you quickly - especially trucks traveling at 60kmph. You have to really concentrate at those speeds. Just goes to show if people could discipline themselves to maintain a half decent distance from the car in front travelling at speeds like this is perfectly safe.

no need too feel a wuss scott unil you get to bout about 70 thats years not mph as our speed limits are based around the 40s with cars that had wooden blocks for brakes, abs ceramic disks, where not there then but they are now speed is not the problem stopping is........ the day i see 155mph on a uk motorway i will believe there is a god............. and prey the lord haaallllllllllllaaaaaaaaluuuuuuuhhhhhhhhhh......... im dropipng the hammer..............days of thunder a great film.....

159 mph indicated last summer, S2 with minor mods that I doubt add much hp. Probably about 150 real speed which is what S2 should do. Can't remmember where the rev neddle was, to busy watching the road. Stunned how stable the car was, and how slow 70 mph feels after speed like that. Also stunned how amazingly quickly the car looses speed when you lift off at 150+.
Very similar experience here, but can't claim the mods. Again, an S2, and I had the needle between the 140 and 150 marks on the speedo (but didn't really concentrate on it as I was looking at the road!)

It was on a private bit of road which looked very like the A3, very early one morning, and I was following (and only just gaining on) a 530d BMW Estate.

I was truly surprised at how stable the car was, and how well it held that speed for a good 8 or 9 minutes, as part of a much longer high speed run.

I was also very impressed by how well the brakes scrubbed off speed when I came to the exit I needed from the private road.

(I feel the need to add that the passenger seat speed limiting device was not installed on that day.)

you are exactly right oli who needs ceramic brakes when you have the missus in the car...................
