Cayman's are very slippery around the track from what I've witnessed.

My first trackday after the rebuild was at Bedford and was pretty damp and cold in the morning. A Cayman came out of the pit about 10 seconds in front of me and during his warmup lap I gradually closed to within a few seconds of his tail. On the second lap he just cleared orf and after a few more laps he was out of sight! [8D]

His grip and traction out of the corners was just phenomenal, whereas I was tip toeing around having to really experiment with traction. 18 years of suspension development and electronic trickery made my poor old turbo look decidedly tired coming out of the corners. Of course I was very rusty, blah, blah, blah, he could have been Mr Rohrl etc [;)]

Hugely impressed.
 
There was a Cayman on the last Silverstone evening we did. Granted I never really got into the groove but I very much doubt I could have caught him. I was sufficiently impressed to have added one to my list for when Peter leaves home.
 
The Cayman and the Boxster (S of course) have grown on me over the past couple of years - though from some angles I still think the Cayman looks [:'(]. There is something about the way the rear window sinks below the line of the car that just looks wrong from some angles. I've driven my mates Boxster a few times and although it lacks grunt it definately handles very well indeed. I've not driven another mates S yet but i'd be surprised if the extra on-paper grunt would be noticeable through the seat of the pants. Unfortunately now i've had a taste of turbo action N/A cars just don't feel exciting, even if they are alot quicker than my car.

If i'm going to do 0 - 60 in 5 seconds i'd rather do 0-10 in 4 seconds and 11-60 in 1 second!! The only exception is the GT3 which are just awsome things. Anyway i'll be putting this to the test soon as my dad has bought me a Ferrari 360 driving experience day at Donington for a combined birthday and xmas present.
 
When following a Cayman last season, I just couldn't believe how quickly they get on and off the brakes to just apply the power again out of the corner. By comparison I felt that I was on the brakes for a few days. This was before a few upgrades, but I was very impressed indeed. If you remember the youtube link I posted in the other clip from inside the 951 chasing the GT3, you just have to be amazed at how quickly these cars can get out of corners, although the little 951 was giving him a real fight in parts.
I think with Standalone that has traction control and other goodies that we may be able to close the gap a little...I hope.[:D] That or 750bhp......
