944S2 Performance chips, any good?

[][] "£35" certainly will use the original one. It wants to out last the exhaust for that money!!

Cheers Fen [;)]

Fitted Promax chip this afternoon........... Over the moon with the result, having fitted a de-cat pipe and Dansk stainless back box last week and now the chip has transformed the car no end [:D] its so much nicer to drive and very punchy top end, it just feels so much more lively as if its lighter, really chuffed, curious to see what figures it would put out compared to standard!

Anyway thanks chaps for all the advice and info, the 944 forum is tops [:D][:D]

Cheers

That's exactly the trio of mods I'd like to make to mine!

The temptation would be too strong to resist had I not had my bank account viciously attacked by every one of my cars this month.

Nick,

That sound's like a very tempting relatively cheap mod - is it easy enough to remove/insert the chip without damaging the pins?

Yes, that was the easiest part once the unit was open, the chip that it replaces is the only one thats in a proper holder rather than being soldered to the pcb, just prised out with a small screwdriver, could be replaced with ease if wished. Promax send quite comprehensive instructions with the chip which helped no end [:)]

Nice one Nick. [8D]

I fitted a Blitz chip to our S2 ~ I'm told this was the basis for the ProMax map but don't know for sure.

It made a huge difference to the car - identical to the std map below 3500rpm, but really smoothed the step in power around 4200rpm and pulled very hard at the top end. My *rse dyno suggested the endine was certainly giving more. Need to run on SUL to realise the benefits though.

Well worth the money IMHO. As per Nick - my experience of fitting it was easy, but spiltting apart the two PCBs excercised some brain cells!
