944s2 se 1991

I believe Fen as a prime example why the technical areas of this forum should be available to remote non members. Members gain a great deal from the shared knowledge, and experiences, of Fen and other contributors outside of the UK who, obviously, wouldn't gain much from PCGB membership themselves.

And, to be fair to James,

I came to the 944 fold having made the classic mistake of buying one, then joining the forums. I learned so much in the first few weeks that I decided I liked the guys who posted on PCGB and Titanic, and joined PCGB. I soon found that there are plenty of people who have huge attitudes towards new owners, and the questions that they answered 20 years before. There's a fine line between patronising the new guy who wants to learn, and "discouraging" the people who join the forum thinking they know more than the regulars, but we also need to remember that it's not stupid to ask a question if you don't know it's a stupid question.

What I want to keep here, and I'm sure that most of you agree, is new owners bringing enthusiasm and reminding us of where we started, and the experienced guys passing on their knowledge without being patronising. of course, if someone arrives with the attitude that they've built a really stonking Nova, then fitted an illuminated reflector on their 944, and now feel that they have the right to take over the forum, then they are going to be whacked by the door on the way out.

Soooo [&:]

Why don't we all take a moment to remember why we first bought a 944, why we first joined a forum, and how we can most use our combined experience to help people who are really asking for advice? After all, we were all the noobs once. [&o]

That's just got me thinking why did I buy a 944? And why have done what I have to it?

well that was fun ! my engine has had head skimmed to the death by a garage claiming to last owner to be fully converse with the breed , this is the reason i bought this engine 2 hand , my box jumped out of third when i bought car but an oil change has cured for now , i have owned a 850t5r volvo and most vw performance cars made but the 944 has been the most fun so far , as a motor engineer to trade i was always impresed with build quality of 1980s porsche models , i would love to see ford or the likes build cars to last this long and still preform as they should , any way 211 bhp or 225 bhp who cares still an impressive figure for 80s engine with no boost ,
ps how rare is black leather option as my car has this ! happy newyear to all when it comes !

As a new 944 owner (last 6 months), I have just read the Fen debacle and think that the whole idea of forums give the opportunity for these things to be circulated and allow the cars to carry on as its our enthusiasm that keeps them on the road. I am a TIPEC member and come to this forum for the irst time today.
I also have a new brother-in-law who is a qualified Porsche and Ferrari mechanic (8 years training, 20 years experience) and when I asked him about a heater problem he was most vague about causes/repairs. I think therefore that the likes of Fen should be able to share his experience and if you dont agree post a positive or neutarl not negative. Hey we're all 944 owners (idiots maybe) [:D]
Oh yes I've an S2

Fen is a much nicer person in the flesh, if he comes across as rude or arrogant to some on here (I don't really think so IMHE) then he is a genuinely nice person face to face and it would be hard to ever meet someone who is a bigger petrol head. I still remember the time I met up with Fen before the dyno day a couple of years ago, we must have chatted for 3 or 4 hours at least. His energy and enthusiasm is second to none and his automotive back catalogue well worth exploring. In fact I doubt there are more then a few ppl around the club who have owned and driven more cars then Fen.
