944T values - all over the place!

I'd rather see them going for this sort of money though [:D]

I'm sure there are some massive variations in quality out there, & the bad ones will be getting harder to sell (don't think many cars are selling at the moment)

There's an S2 on Autotrader for £14995 at the moment!! It only has 19000 miles from new but even so, although I'd be very happy to see values at that level now I've bought mine!

Matt, with you on that one!

I know none of us are 'playing' with our 944s for financial gain ( [8|] ) but I really cannot see how their values can drop any further before a resurgence on the back of the 80's revival - "fire up the Quattro" etc [:D]

Interesting conundrum a Classic S2 @ £15k & 19k miles or similar priced and mileage but far newer Boxster's by the dozen

What would you do?

Of course asking over £9k for a 951 is one thing ...getting it is another.[8|]

So how much did you pay? [;)]

- oh and to answer the question - If I had 15k I'd buy a good 944 Turbo, make it go faster & handle better, & spend what's left on trackdays & fuel [:D]

Put it this way, I think you might need a locksmith.....[8|][:D]

[:D][:D][:D] That is for sure Nick.....! I have got the old "you dont use that car very much and why dont you sell it speech"

to which I replied " I have the 944 7.5 years and I know you 3 years ... Who is going to go first... you do the maths...! "

I am going to attempt to start a 944 S2 fund after I get married... whether I can keep it quiet/hidden is another problem ....[&:] Any advice will be in the strictest confidence....!

In the last few weeks, I have seen an 89 turbo for under £4k and an early car for £3k and today i have seen this

To be honest they have been like this for the past 10 years - bad ones will be a 3rd of the price of immaculate ones. There really is a huge difference in condition for cars our age, it's not like a 3 year old Mondeo with 40k miles which you could value from a book and all of them would be within 5% of each other.

Worryingly that one is Baltic Blue with black wheels and is in Northants - it better not be mine that Debbie is trying to flog on the sly :ROFLMAO:

I had wondered where all the new shoes and handbags were coming from [&:]

To be honest i'd steer clear of this. A 15 - 20 yr old car that has only done barely 1k miles a year. As soon as you start running it all sorts of problems would come to the surface. It would be a nightmare to get running reliably. These things don't react well to sitting around. My car feels very different when it's not been driven for 1 week let alone 1 yr or so. Low milage on these cars is not necessarily a good selling point from both a mechanical or bodywork point of view. Just think of the condensation that has formed in the sills over the years that hasn't dried out by the car being driven and has just collected in the sills eating into the zinc coating. If your budget stretches to £15k and you want a 944 then you are better off buying a good condition high mileage example for £5k ish and spending a few K on an engine and transmission rebuild.

That's funny Paul as that was what I thought the instant that I saw the pictures there. Oh No, he's not selling Lil is he?? Ha only took me a second to realise that you are still with us to endure more of this punishment that we go through for our love of these confounded little cars...

Never []

I was hoping to have her back for Frontrunner on Sunday. The steering rack has been replaced and a few tweaks have been performed to the induction but when they came to refit the headlamp mechanism they spotted the metal brackets that support the bumper bar were not quite straight. The bodyshop should have spotted this but they are not familiar with 944's and left the headlamps to be refitted by Jons guys [8|]. New ones have been ordered from Porsche but haven't arrived yet.

The wait goes on but is very nearly over [:)]

I hope 951 value's go up as in hindsight I seem to have got a good deal on mine, had car 5 months now, no problems, and once I tackle bubbles on sill I reckon it be worth 5k as its done 88k and is imaculate otherwise. There is a little fray/tear on the drivers seat, wonder how hard it would be to get a mint burgandy leather seat, will be keeping an eye on ebay. Does everybody reckon prices will only really ever go up now for clean 944's, reckon that is going to happen to a lot of 80's cult cars.

my feeling is a lot of peeps are buying the relatively cheap turbos to either thrash the nuts off them or use as a trackday car either way they are often thrashed these days and often get no servicing or maintenance.
I cannot believ any 44 in any condition is worth £15k when it is over 20 years old !
the less miles the more age related problems its likely to have I reckon

Nope, not when you can get a nice clean 993 for 20K or so. Boxster S is down to 12 grand now for the oldest models. OK you probably have a 1/4 chance or worse of suffering all kinds of RMS nastiness but the general public wrongly think of the newer pork as being bullet proof because they read all the bs written by journalists who keep saying how wonderful modern cars are and how rubbish older cars are. Sadly the number of ppl who understand how wonderful these cars are is very small and the supply is very high. Porsche made many thousands of S2's and turbos so sadly I can't ever see the prices doing much better. Lastly one needs to factor in that none of the older pork has the desirability of a 911 variant and I don't see that changing because things have always been that way (well last 20 years at least).

You have to get a car that is rare to have much chance of it appreciating. A good example IMHO is the Audi RS2. I have read road tests that say it is a dog but ppl still desire it like mad despite that if you stripped of the Porsche bits you are left with 500 quids worth of Audi. Lack of supply is why.
