As you may be aware, Porsche Club GB is putting on the annual Porsche-fest for 2009 at Blenheim Palace over the weekend of 11/12th July. 2009 also happens to coincide with the 20th anniversary of the release of the 964 Carrera and to celebrate this occasion, as 964 Register Secretary, I would like us to be able to put together a display of 964s never before seen.
Released into an economic climate not entirely unfamiliar to us today, the 964 didn't perform the economic miracle for Porsche "" in fact, quite the reverse, it nearly brought the company to it's knees "" and, because of this, there really aren't THAT many around. Evidenced by the fact that it's almost rare to see one on the roads and VERY difficult to get any sizeable group of them together. In the five years that I have been involved with the 964 community the most I have ever seen together is 25 "" and that was back in 2005!!
What I would like to see for the Blenheim Palace event is an unsurpassed effort to gather at least 100 964s of all varieties together. I can't expect that everyone will want to be there for both days so I have set up a little registration page on Doodle where I would be pleased if you could indicate your willingness to attend indicating which day (either or both) and what type of 964 you will be bringing. The Doodle registration is free and there is no requirement to leave any personal information other than your name. You can access the registration by clicking here. I really hope we can do this. If the German-based 964 Jubilee Register can muster over 50 964 Jubilee cars for their event on 1st May I would feel ashamed if we can't double their achievement
If any 964 owner reading this has not already seen an e-mail from me covering the same subject it means that I don't have a current or valid e-mail address for you or you may not be on the 964 Register.
Please note that ONLY PCGB Members will be joining the display. If you own a 964 and are currently not a member, what better reason could you have for joining??
Regards
Dave
