964 Celebration Info

Dave,

Thanks for the advice.

I've now got to find the right car (havent received pics of red celebration yet). Might look at the one at Sean Lockyears.

As a side point, whilst trawling the net for cars there are several 996's for sale at under £20k and a couple under £17k. They've been hit by depreciation really badly. People must obviously prefer the air cooled models.

Regards

Phil

Phil,

I think one advantage of the celebration is that it should hold its value very well. Not that the 964 is doing too badly as a whole. I certainly don't see 964 prices being any cheaper now than when I was looking this time last year. Zero depreciation is a rare and nice thing! [:)]

I suspect the 996 market will hit rock bottom this year since the early ones are fast approaching their final year of qualification for the factory extended warranty. Almost without exception 996s and warranty have been mentioned in the same sentence ever since the release of the car and, with the considerable bad press over RMS failures and intermediate shaft breakages - even if it is a small percentage - it's been enough to scare off all but the very hardy.

I can't see anything bar the GT3/GT2/Turbo cars justifying decent prices once they get beyond 9 years old whereas the air cooled cars seem to go from strength to strength.

As Steve said, the current prices for the 964 don't seem hugely different to those that were being asked when I bought mine 4 years ago. And the RS'es have obviously gone mental!!! The Turbos (and particularly the Turbo 3.6) as well as the Celebration models are all doing very well. It will be interesting to see how 2008 performs!!

Dave

If anyone spots any 964 celebration or turbo-look cabriolets up for sale please let me know?

If there are any turbo-look coupes out there, I would also be interested.

Phil

I will always associate my first impressions of my 911 in Sean's lovely "Olde World" showroom.
He sold me a good car and is more knowledgable of the brand than most. Can recommend him for being helpful and straightforward.
