964RS..."The best Ever 911..QED"

Quote from EVO mag n99 (if i remember correctly) from W Rohrl to R Meaden: 'I think we have just sneaked in before the prices get silly'.
They were both in Paris for the official launch of the 997 gt3rs and both had driven their own car to the place.

The 'long term fleet' small article written by Meaden explains that Rohrl just bought an identical car this own: 1992 964 RS 'basic' in black. Rohrl took the opportunity as he apparently found the car that he had been looking for a long time.

(i am sure that most here have read this article already, but just in case someone missed it: worth a read).

Nice to own a similar car to the master himself. Looks like it could push the prices a touch higher?

What's it like driving a Tip Cup car? I heard they were only good for 5 full throttle get aways before the box blew up!

Walter was to gentle on it and finished in 5th place at the Ring.

Now Hakinens car would be something! ;O)

The Monte Carlo guest car. Walter was 3rd behind Uwe Altzen. Is that your car? Yellow and black?

Think it's actually a sequential shift and not a tipbonkiyt.....watched the film with my other half, I was sworn to secrecy......sorry Mr Spear............

Anyway latest update from the Wally Roll press office is:

"Jah dis Leichtenmeister der hounden bally bitz, kettlewagener zucken grossen"

Charles,

my car is the original tiptronic Cup Car that Walter Röhrl drove. It´s white, VIN ZLS 409050. The last one made in 1990.
Driving is great, on track it´s a disadvantage that it´s only a 4-speed box. But: I´ve never overrevved it, the tip saved a lot of money. I never had a problem with the gearbox, the mechanics in Weissach added a simple system for avoiding oil leaking out under extreme conditions and the gearbox itself is bulletproof.
The rest is the same as in any other 964 Cup Car, a great toy on a smooth track. It takes a long time to drive it fast on for instance the Nordschleife, a bumpy surface makes it difficult and experience helps a lot.
By the way: Fantastic on the brake, the modern cars have problems.

This car is what from my point of view a Porsche should be like.

Regards,

Hacki

Must be the only one in the World and driven by Wally £££££££££££££££££££££££££.......[:D]

Des,

in fact it´s the only one in the world and it was driven by the champ himself.
I´ve got the factory video, the "Wagenpass" (where WR is listed as the driver), comments from Weissach, the "Christophorus" issue with the car, postcard from WR and more collectibles.

But nothing beats the fun to drive that thing. It´s nice to have all that stuff, but when the tiger in the rear wakes up he wants to ROAR !!!!

(Not fart, like a watercooled car)

"(Not fart, like a watercooled car) "

These continentals don't mince their words like us British, what?
Really made me laugh! ;-)

Alex,

I´m sorry in case my words should have annoyed you. Hope you got it the right way.

LOL
clearly never heard a GT3 at full chat eh?
Porsche thought watercooling was so bad that they even used it to power their GT1s to victory at LM... [8|][;)]
