Sorry guys to create a thread, but here goes anyway. I'm looking for the 968 side mirror kit and obviously bieng a r.h.d. country like us it would suit me. I thought someone there may have a kit lying around that they decided they didn't want or direct me to where the best priced one may be available.
Thanks in advance.
Patrick

I think you'll be out of luck finding a cheap unwanted set Patrick as most of us covert them very much [8D] I could unbolt Mr Mcnulty's when I next see his car as I know he likes the standard look [;)]

Cheapest price over here will probably be Exeter OPC though I doubt they would do their normal free postage to Oz [] - 01392 822800

They'll obviously only fit a red car.....[8|]

I'll have first dibs then!!!

Patrick - if you are just after the cup mirror look and dont need the electrics then Club Autosport do fiberglass replicas that are not electrically powered. I think they go for a mere ÂŁ150 a pair, though you'll need to get them sprayed up. I've often wondered if it would be easy/possible to buy this kit and somehow transplant the electrics from your current flag type mirrors. Assuming the electrics fit I guess it would need some mounting points glueing into the cup mirror shells.

Thanks guys for the responses. I had a reply from Porsch-apart and they wanted 295 + 65 + Vat pounds for a set of 2nd hand ones! That would work out at nearly $1000 aussie before shipping! For 2nd hand ones. Yikes. I may check out the manual ones. Cheaper and lighter.
Oh and as for the red cars only, well I'd be prepared to spray them anyway so keep that thought in mind guys. lol

Thinking about it i've only adjusted my mirrors once when I first bought the car so manual ones are not going to be much of a chore. However in the UK the electrically heated elements might be useful if we are ever to see a snowy winter again!! I can't imagine that would be an issue for you though Pat!

Well the only time I find I adjust the offside mirror is when you reverse park so as not to scrape the wheels on the gutter. The heated option is not needed as you implied. It looks like to buy them brand new here will not be much more than one quoted by Porsch-apart UK so I may just go that way. Thanks for the heads up though guys.

I have a set of RHD 968 mirrors, they are heated and electrically adust..................................

but I`m keeping them [;)][:D]

Am i the only person that finds them hard to see out of???Still have them on my black turbo but can't seem to bring myself to get them pulled off, because i am starting to like them[:D]

The latest Saab's and the new Freelanders mirrors pop down when you select reverse so you can keep an eye on the kerbs and then pop back up to the originally set position afterwards. That is probably the most impressive gadget i've ever seen on a car. Superb.

Here's several clone 968 mirrors. They had all factory functions except heating.

Slightly OT but what switches on the mirror heaters and the windscreen wash nozzle heaters?

Do they come on with the heated rear screen?

I know I'm gonna regret asking but why do they have to be Porsche ?

There are plenty of even better looking mirrors out there at a fraction of the price which would either fit or could be easily adapted to fit out doors.

Paul / Hilux, in the voice of Patsy Stone "Yeah cheers, thanks alot" lol
OS951, are these yours or any for sale?
Scott, yes what a good idea. There's nothing like the sound of gouging new alloys on the footpath.[]
Peanut, I'm open to suggestions. What alternatives would you suggest?
Keep the ideas coming guys.

Surely by the time you've bought a set of mirrors, and sprayed them, and come up with a bodge to fit them, and wired them in, and then they aren't Porsche mirrors and devalue the car and make you look like a Nova-owning plank......[:'(]

It must be a better, simpler and probably in the long run cheaper option to just buy proper teardrops?

But then I would say that as the previous owner fitted mine......[:)]

except my previous car had teardrops and the top corner missing from the rear view really annoyed me , the mini and TT ones are more symetrical,
Tony
