968 Prices

John,

I saw you (and your car) whilst out for a drive in Fife this afternoon (in the laguan at the time). Did not wave as was not sure it was you until too late - a bit daft with hindsight [:D]

Are you sure it was me? I mean bright blue 964s with huge bi-plane tails are dead common ... not ! [:D][:D][:D]

Yup, guilty as charged m'lud ... I was out this afternoon.

See you at Knocky on Wed perhaps.

Cheers

JH

Might be worth giving Henry a call then....

Must admit I am spoilt for choice. Then there is the service bills I have seen. Truely terrifying for a 964 owner!

It does make me worry when I see £1800 bills for a service. I though you could run a 928 GTS for that sort of annual service costs.

I got a bit lost with this thread when Chris and John hijacked it ;O) I'll speak to you both at KH!

I have sourced a car in Germany with very low mileage and all the toys including factory fitted roll cage. Waiting to hear if my offer is accepted. If not there are 2 in Glasgow one black and one yellow both have excellent SH. Both RHD too.

Now that black 928GTS looked cool.................

£1800 bill for a service? On a 968? Was it done by the Weissach motorsport crew?

The biggest bill I ever had for my 968 was £1200 and that included a very thorough service, brake pads all round, front disks, belts, chains etc. etc. blah-de-blah the full monty, right down to the oil pressure gauge getting calibrated (thats how sorted my car is, for any potential purchasers out there![;)] Sorry, shameless plug[:)]).

£1800 is very untypical.

" My last service was carried out at Glenvargill Glasgow. £1800.00 ouch. They know the car, before that it was Carrs in London I think. Glenvargill had the last service checked and the one before that to make sure all work had been carried out"

I think it included new front calipers. Plate lift I guess. Obviously LRU for OPCs. Doesn't say much for Carrs I guess.

Yep, the calipers will be a large chunk of that and it is not necessary to get new ones if it was just plate lift, although I wouldn't be suprised if OPC's would not want to have anything to do with refurbishing them - after all they are money makers not engineers!
