968CS at Auction, Washington 14th Jan

alex - i reckon they have bottomed out (except in the trade where they are definately rising)..

i think that the £ gap is widening between relatively low mileage, fully documented, cared for cars with enthusiast owners spending money in the right areas vs the ones with less than perfect histories, 100's of owners etc. when i was looking to buy my 968, the good cars were sold by the time the advert came out, the bad cars sat around for a month or so - so cars at £15k would sell quicker than some at £10k

Have you seen this low mileage, 38k, LHD CS for sale on Pistonheads? A friend on mine rang me and wondered if it was mine, he said, because of the red wheels.

Yep, spotted that, very strong price for a Lefty even with the low mileage amazing for a 10 year old import even with a Porsche badge on it [;)].

If it's a genuine M030 car, that's probably worth a £2k premium to the right buyer. Should be a great car for the track!

I seem to remember seeing that red CS for sale on PH for quite a bit of last year. It was about £15k as well.

Agreed, that first picture looks suspiciously familiar, like I saw it a year ago in Autotrader when I was looking for a car.

There has much talk about prices bottoming out on 968.net, yet I am very suspicious of this. 964's used to be rock solid, yet they have plummeted recently, and even 993's have started to go down too. 944s get cheaper and cheaper, as are Boxsters. I would love to see the value in my own car retained, but I suspect it is wishful thinking.

Time will tell on the price thing. I plan on keeping mine a while yet, with 7 owners and 103k up I think it would be hard to shift anyway.

No chore though... I kind of like it [:D]

I am hoping that the comparative rarity of 968's, the long life body, last of the f/engined line, the excellent handling and performance will help prices to remain stable. In quiet moments I do even dream of price rises but then I prod myself with a sharp pointed stick and come back down to earth.

They will reach a floor at some point, but I don't know where that is. The precedent set by the 944S2 (the 968's closest relative) is not encouraging - they can be picked up for £6k.

Obviously the rarity & distinctive style of the 968 will always command a premium, but my guess is that they'll eventually settle at around £10k or thereabouts.

Paul from my searching I reckon unfortunately the standard coupe's will lose out the most with the Sport being below the CS in terms of depreciation.

Relative to a new car though its nothing [;)]
