981 Cayman S in Red with Manual box anyone ??

Thanks for all the comments and views ......

The Carmine Red GTS was indeed up for sale privately at just under £60k before it was sold to OPC Brooklands and I did enquire but, like one or two others, I think they are very strongly priced at the moment. The Oakwood car only has one option, painted wheels, so not quite what I was looking for - they may struggle to move that one.

On the 718/981 debate, I am firmly in the 981 camp at present .............and still looking !!!

Still looking for the right one .......... 981 Cayman S (or possibly GTS) in Red with Manual box up to four years old. If you are thinking of selling or know of one then please contact me via a PM.

Thanks

Mike

Blimey you got the patience of a Saint!! Nearly a year looking ?

hope you find one before Xmas !,

A year down the line I think tells you all you need to know. The chances of finding a car with that combination are slim to zero. Even if you did, the remaining options could well be not what you want, or not included. As others have said, you be far better off with the colour at the bottom of your preferred options tree. Hope you find it, but I have my doubts.

Have you left your details with your local OPC and respective specialists Mike?

As MrPG has said, I think the colour option needs to be low on your list of requirements. Choose/buy on Condition, condition, condition, history, mileage. Oh and when you find the right car don't forget to have the car independently inspected (if you are buying private) and have the over revs checked!

Colour option in my opinion is the most important things on my list. No point buying and looking out of the window seeing the car and saying. I wish I had waited for a RED one.

I always make two list when buying. Anything missing on the first list I would not even look at the car.

1. A MUST have list - your essential choices

2. A NICE to have list - wouldnt stop you buying if the car did not have.

On my list one would certainly be

[ul][*]Colour exterior/interior[*]Manual[*]Gearbox Manual [*]ETC[*]ETC [*]On my list 2 would be

[ul][*]Window Tints[*]Blue tooth[*]Heated seats [*]ETC[*]ETC[/ul][/ul]

Being to restrictive on options when buying secondhand can mean missing out on what may well be an exceptional car. When a particular model with exact spec' may well prove difficult to get hold of, unless you are very lucky. You have to be extremely fortunate to drop on the a car with your exact spec. After all, the option list is huge. The only way to choose the exact spec' and colour is to buy new!!

Porsche looks good in any colour, however, some are exceptional in the right colour. Then beauty is in the eye of the beholder. [;)]

Hi,

Thanks for all the views !!! As for patience, I am really happy with my current S - just would like to change it if the right car was out there but in no hurry.

As for colour, I have a real preference for Red on my next one - I agree that condition, history, etc are vitally important but I'd add colour into that mix as well.

Mike
