981 perspex/acrylic wind deflector

Been speaking to our local glass merchant about a glass screen - he says that my mesh screen (from a 981S) is slightly curved and therefore a glass screen will not fit.

Are the mesh screens supposed to be curved or has mine just slightly warped over the last 3 years?

Thanks

I am very pleased with dougs spare Perspex rear wind deflector
just needed a couple of bashes with a rubber hammer and hey presto
the rear view is a million times better
ive kept the plastic cutout if anyone wants it
cheers Doug??

I have a 987 Boxster S which has a Perspex deflector which annoyingly "flutters” and rattles a little at speed. It’s probably an aftermarket item but it is well made but not rigid enough. Reflection in the mirror in certain light conditions can be a little distracting.
My wife and I both had an MGF, one fitted with a mesh deflector and the other with a Perspex deflector. The mesh deflector was perhaps surprisingly preferred because there was less wind turbulence.

Like Andrew bought mine off ebay from USA and it fitted like a glove and is a vast improvement over the factory mesh concept - Cost $90 plus $56 shipping charges $146.00 total

firstly, that is a beautiful car[;)]

Secondly, can you post the link for the purchase of the clear deflector?

If anyone has a source for a glass screen would be very interested to get for the 981. Also are they the same size as in a 718?
Thanks

Are wind deflectors a standard fit on 718's?, as I've been looking online at an S with nothing fitted? I couldn't see an option for them in the brochure.

Peeps, it’s takes a while but I made mine from Perspex sheet from EBay. Just be careful of the edges when you cut it as it can fracture real easily.

I'm not sure how you test that Perspex will stand the wind and buffeting loads of driving at speed, but a faceful of broken plastic doesn't sound ideal. Take care out there!

No problems on our 10 day round trip to Italy in June, even with one day of over 7hrs with top down and spurts of 120+mph.. Great fun! ??
