Hi,

I will be joining the Boxster S ranks again in a week or so getting a new 987 S in place of my 996 Turbo. Took one out and realised what a heap of fun it is with the roof down in the sun and that I was missing out. Speed aint everything.....[:)]

Cheers,

I was lucky bowled up to the OPC for a Test Drive on Thursday and they had ordered one in January that is being delivered next week it was orignally destined to be a service loan car but have decided to sell. It was at the Docks on Thursday and is due to the OPC early next week.

Can't wait hopefully the weather will be a little warmer

Those two weeks will fly by

Interesting. Mine is due for arrival at the docks this week too. Wonder if it's on the same wagon as yours?

Well all being well I should have her on Thursday evening was at the OPC today and the car arrived this morning and it's covered in the protective white plastic and covers so looks abit odd especially the wheels being covered. Still I am sure it will look awesome once it's been cleaned up.

VIN brothers indeed. My salesman called me yesterday, after returning to work after along weekend away to advise me that all was well and my new arrival was on site and being prepared. Hoorah!

Pick it up on Saturday. This week is going to drag.

Cool when did you order the car?

I pick my up tomorrow insurance cert arrived today pending any issue's tomorrow then I'll have it tomorrow

I'll post some pictures once I have have it.

Tomorrow will drag for me will be at the OPC at 17:00 on the dot..

It's my first ever brand personal new car. My wife had a new 106 once and I have a diesel Mondeo company car once but this is something a bit special as a brand new car it will be nice to be able to know how it was run in, whether it's had a crash or if it's reliable etc...

Hi All,

Picked up the car 13miles on the clock.

Picture attached more when the weathers better!! But it feels and drives great maybe at Bowood this weekend to stretch her legs.

Thanks

Wooohooo!

Weather's been a pig, so not had an opportunity to drop the top down yet. None the less a great drive home, all be it a little tamed.

Boxster S
Guards Red (as you can see)
Grey Leather upholstery
standard 18" alloys
Coloured centre crests
Usual lighting/mirror/wiper/climate tools
& Bose sound pack. (But forgot to take any CDs to really test it - doh!)

very nice

what are you doing as your run in procedure I have managed to drive with roof down twice but for no more than 5 minutes, but I know that the roof is water tight as I have driven it mainly in the rain.[:)]

For running in I am doing 4000rpm for the first 1000 or so and 5000rpm for the next 800 I have though accidently been to 5000 but I am sure it will be fine. The performance upto 4000 is excellent and the exhaust note is addictive. There are so many stories on running in it's hard to know whats best but for the first 200 I have been careful not to labour the engine or stress it when cold which I wouldn't do anyway and not labour the engine at all but you can feel it loosening up.

As before, the salesman said that running in wasn't really important for the engine anymore as the engines have been run on the bench. Of course new tyres and brakes will need to be bedded in so that's fair.

I will however be ignoring his advice. At least as far as the engine is concerned. I'll run the car for 1000 miles or so with revs kept to a gentle pace, probably about 3000 avg. and of course trying not to labour it. I'll build it up from there over about 500 miles and start to give her a good run.

I did manage to try the roof, once, yesterday evening. It was only for 5 minutes and only wanted to test the "one touch" moving operation. So much easier than before. Think i'll pop out today and show it off to the neighbours [:D]

[]Its statements like those that make me think no matter how much the ex demo is being sold off for it ain't cheap enough. The salesman should be forced to read Page 12 of the manual Tips for running in - "The wearing in of moving parts with each other cannot be completely avoided. The wearing in occurs mainly in the first 1865 miles"

[8D]Good luck guys with your new Boxsters

I still don't fully understand why the US manual and UK Manual are different run-in methods the cynic in me is that as we have a two year warraty they don't get what we do as it will properly last two years and in the US they have a three year warranty and want them to look after them a bit...[:)] But that is ultra cynical but had crossed my mind [:)]
